I’ve had these on the boat a while now and they perform well and haven’t rusted really at all. They live on the boat and still are holding up. Great price for a decent product that’s lasted.

Have had these for two fishing seasons on saltwater. not one bit of rust. Lanyards are in good shape as are the clips and they are a nice safety feature to secure the rod and reel. They are fantastic for spreading out the trolling lines where outriggers are not available. Allows me to easily run a third line down the center. They take a little getting use to as the rod-safety clip/lanyard can sometimes get in the way on a hook-up. Just have to be more deliberate and detach it as part of getting ready to fight the fish.

My boat only has 2 built in rod holders that are angled towards the rear of the the boat. I needed a holder that would hold my trolling rod off to the side of the boat to troll bunker spoons for stripers. This rod holder worked perfectly. I searched all over before I came across this one. The stainless steel appears to be of a good quality and the attached lanyard and hook work well to clip my reel into. I will be purchasing another in the coming weeks. I would recommend this vs. spending triple for a similar one at West Marine.

Very well made for the price. Saw similar ones for more than 2x the money at Bass Pro. Used these for years on small boats I've owned - they work great as poor man's outriggers! Caught lots of fish with them. One caution: be sure you have a fitting on the railing that you can clip them too (they come with a spring hook). Also, its a good idea to run another line around your reel. Its a bit of a hassle to unhook the rod if you get a strike, but that way there's no way to lose the outfit.

Did not work out for my needs

Just received a pair of these rod riggers, and they are very impressive. Not quite the same level of fit and finish as the CE Smiths, but very, very close, and at a fraction of the price. The only possible negative is the connection point for the safety strap. It is a stainless split ring that is spot welded to the post, just below the bend. Looks like it could be easily bent or broken, allowing the safety strap to break free. Will update this post after fishing with them. I don't usually fish with the safety straps anyway, so I don't think this will be a problem for me.

Very sturdy, hooked up on a 8' tiger shark with drag not set very well. To put it lightly, I thought my custom rod was going to snap off before I could get the rod out of the rod holder, but never questioned the strength of this thing. I have three and they are great for trolling rods high speed. I have been thoroughly impressed with these for the price. Don't spend more money, these serve the purpose they were made for.
