If your in need of a light ballast, here you go
Ordered this 600watt ipower ballast a day or two ago . Haven’t even received it yet and I’m already able to write a review. Full disclosure, I have never owned any other brands of lights or ballast . Been a grow for 10 years , with a few grows under my belt . I’m also pretty tight with most the larger growers in my area. Where to begin. Bought my first ipower ballast and grow light , and pretty much never looked back . The ballast this one will be replacing is just over 8 years old . And with a couple of grows on it . It’s on right now and running great . Did have it , what I call , blink out the other day . After 8 years and a couple of really good grows , blink out my dear friend. I only buy ipower lights and ballast. There a solid product, and at a really good price . It’s what I have known . And worked with over the years . Even converted a few other grows to ipower . Can’t speak for there customer service , mainly cause I never had to deal with them . Yet lol . There products work and thy don’t break the bank . And out of the , let’s say ten others I know , who also own and love ipower, no fires . Mike . I have had 3 ipower 1000 watt ballast, with there lights , and this will make number 4 , 600 watt ballast, and to this day , all but one I could plug in and thy would work right now . The one that wouldn’t , well , let’s just say your not supposed to bash them against walls while made . Not a spokesperson. Just a grower looking to help others do there grow . I know there other ballast out there , and probably some better then this brand . But for the price . And longevity , you can not go wrong . Grow on Update ; This ballast has a super lumens setting. My 8 year old ballast that this one was to replace , on the highest setting put out 51,110 lumens . This one , on the super setting, puts out 68,878 !! Love the super setting! Grow big !!

Affordable dimmable ballast that comes with extra fuse and burns both MH and HPS bulbs .
This is my second one of these . Pro's they are quiet , use less electricity then a magnetic ballast as well as can tell and self switch between MH and HPS bulbs that are the correct size or 600 watts lighting either one . They also have 3 power settings or a dimmer switch . They come with a 5 year warranty in fact I am looking for my paperwork now as I had one burn out after 3 years of daily use . The first thing you check is the fuse and there are videos on youtube on how to do it . All you need is a flat blade screw driver their is a little drawer built in by where the power chord plugs in . You just put the flat end tip in where it fits together and pry it open ...very simple . Inside is a extra fuse they both slide out in the piece that is the drawer . You just switch the two and put it back together . The video says 50% of the time this fixes the lamp . In my case I found a bulb burned out so I replaced the bulb and still nothing where upon I changed the fuse without luck so I purchased this as they are very affordable as ballasts go. The setup lit up and works great now . In my case the 2 day prime shipping was a huge draw and worth the small premium to the best deal I could find anywhere online or local . I used the warehouse deals to save a little more money and nothing but the packaging was effected , just a crushed box . With the expense of shipping these warranties are so so as well as you don't have the time if you have plants to wait for the process to take place . I expect to see a drop in my electric use . Amazon says the warehouse deals do not have a warranty I will still register it and check with Ipower . The ballast was never used it was all wrapped in plastic with all the warranty papers only the crushed packaging . All and all I am very pleased though sad the original only lasted 3 years so I took a star off . I believe the capacitor or igniter went out . If initial cost is a consideration this is a solid choice and I found for my needs 600 watts with a dimmable ballast was the best choice though most prefer 1000 watts and the 400 is the least expensive there is plenty of information online to help choose the proper wattage for your application .

WORTH EVERY DOLLAR...
WORTH EVERY DOLLAR I PAID FOR IT!! I looked long and hard all over the internet for WEEKS before I stumbled on this little gem. I had a Sun System 1,000 watt grow light that had a an older magnetic ballast from 12 years ago actually and I really had a difficult time controlling the heat in my grow room -- a DIRECT result of the combination of the heat generated by the ballast and its unchangeable wattage. There were many times that I wanted to reduce the watts, but most of all - the HEAT generated by the ballast AND the bulb. The heat generated can get up to 95 degrees or more in a very short time in smaller areas -- that could be a DISASTER in a small grow space, this in turn brings new problems that you really want to stay away from. With this new iPower digital, dimmable ballast, I have solved the most difficult part of my grow equation. I virtually ELIMINATED the heat generated by the ballast itself, you can easily touch any part of the ballast and it runs quite cool -- even on the 1,000w setting! It even has its own little cooling fan built right in, and it makes very little sound. The dimmable option is what REALLY makes this item super versatile, I have mine set up so that just before it goes out I lower the wattage to 500watts so that when my lights first kick on in the morning they are not hit with HIDs at FULL force -- your plants will LOVE this option. After a couple of hours I kick it up to 750watts and in a couple more I hit 'em with all 1,000watts -- just like in the real ideal day...then I back them down slowly in the afternoon to 500watts when they shut down with the timer. Together with the new Metal Halide I picked up from Amazon, my old system is now state of the art...MH for the vegetative growth and your HPS for the flowering cycle....reduced heat signature in your grow room, less internodal stretch and a much greater YIELD in the finished product are just a FEW of the tangible things you should see in YOUR grow setup! The new ballast plugged right into my 12 year old Sun System with NO modifications or adapters necessary. I am 110% satisfied with my purchase and would definately put this on my wish list for Xmas if you don't have one of these beauties yet. By the way, the time from ordering to receipt was only a week, also very good, and arrived in perfect condition. Very, very satisfied.

Great new ballast
I purchased this dimmable ballast for my basement and it came pretty quick via fedex. I gotta say im very impressed because its performing very consistently. As a traditional grower, i try to stay away from digital ballasts because of their unreliability, even amongst brand name ones according to the experice amongst some of my friends and my boyfried. I have a new setup in my basement and i thought that getting a dimmable ballast would reduce some heat while working in there. I was a little skeptical at first but for the price of this unit, what can you really lose? it even came with a little card for 3 year warranty so make sure to hang on to that. it's running exactly the way it's advertised, runs both mh and hps bulbs, has a built in fan for cooling which is nice for someone who is used to magnetic ballasts. it only comes with a 120v cord so make sure to purchase the 240v cord if you are in europe or something. it has a replaceable fuse for surge protection im assuming and looks like a brand I saw in my local hydro shop called apollo or something. best of all its purple which is my favorite color! the overall product looks quality and even came with little rubber stoppers that u can stick on if you were to place it on the floor! I think i will get more to update my basement grow room so that it will be full of cool purple ballasts!

Worked for 4 hours.
It came on time. When I opend it up there was rattling comimg from the inside of the ballast. It was a black piece of what looked like melted plastic. It was nice and quiet. It ran for about 4 hours than mysteriously stopped working. It came with a phone number to call Ipower in case of difficulties. I left a message now waiting for a response. Ill keep this updated it finally come about 30 days after i returned it. And im sure only necause i called and asked where my replacement is. It came 3 days later. Its worked for 4 months. And now Just like the last one it wont turn on or do anything. Crap!

Worth every penny and dollar!
Works exactly as advertised. Don't know what else to say except I was a little skeptical due to the other reviews on here but I haven't had a single issue with the ballast but I've only been using it for about a month. As with any electronic, if it's gonna fail, it will usually fail within the first few days of use, so if you're worried you might have a bad unit, when you first get it turn it on and leave it on for a week straight that will stress the device enough to show any potential weaknesses and then you have plenty of time to return it otherwise you're probably not gonna have any problems. Also as with any electronics the most likely problem you'll encounter will be years down the road and will be failure of electrolytic caps, sooner if cheap caps are used. Update: 3 years or so later still running strong and not a single problem with the unit. I would definitely recommend!

Ballasts running hot. OR NOT.
I bought this ballast and had read a lot of reviews that were yelling FIRE. This electronic ballast is just like any other. If you run this ballast on 110v it will get hot. The cord will get hot and after time melt. You need to watch this. If you run the ballast on 220v you will find that it is almost cold even the cord. The reason for this is the amount of amps on the wire. 110v 1 wire 220v 2 wires. 220 draws half the amps down each wire rather than all down 1. It works half as hard. I do not recommend running any ballast on 110 if you do run a #10 wire and use a 25amp breaker. If you have never ran a ballast like this on 220v and seen how cool it runs you are in for a surprise. This is why I think you don't get a good response from the company because they know it is up to you to make sure the correct supply voltage and amps are available. How could they know what you have in your home? I think most say they draw 8.6 amps or so. That computer plug you are using I think is rated at 7amps or less. So on 110 you draw 8.6 amps down one wire that small and it will fail. 220 you draw 4.3 amps per wire. I am not saying they supply the correct size cord here just the facts about 110 220 and why they get so hot. Just my opinion.. No I don't work for any ballast company.
