Great value
I have been enjoying Kookaburra Black Licorice for years and have purchased the product through many channels, including Kookaburra itself.I found buying in bulk like this presents the best value. To provide such value, I believe some candy companies buy the 15.4 lb case from Kookaburra and then repackage it into smaller units. This vendor seemed to present one of the best cost/oz values I could find on Amazon. One gripe some have found when buying repackaged product from candy companies is that the candy arrives stale. Though that is a risk one takes for the sake of value, I would hope that an honest retailer wanting to keep a good reputation on Amazon would try to make good in order to ensure a repeat customer.Anyway, this product arrived fresh, so I have no reservations in recommending this supplier for Kookaburra Black Licorice.

Bulk Product Seems Slightly Different from Individually Packed Product.
Kookaburra is probably the tastiest and chewiest licorice available. I typically buy it from a local health food store in the 10 oz stand-up bag. I realized that it is also available from a licorice bar at a local candy store. I have noticed that the texture/characteristics of the products are different. The product in the 10 oz package literally melts in your mouth, while the bulk package never quite reaches this level of pliability. Taste is the same, but based upon my sample of two, they are different and I happen to prefer the softer texture. This product from Trade Concepts is consistent with the bulk product, purchased from the local store. The product is delivered in two 2 clear plastic packages, with a notation that "This Is A Set DO NOT SEPARATE" and my order listed a Best if used by dating of April 40, 2018. I'm guessing that Trade Concepts does not do their own repacking, as the product is available in an individual 1.925# cello bags and a 15.4# (1.925# * 8!) bulk case from the manufacturer - no I didn't bother to weigh the bags.Bottom line, the product seems to be Kookaburra's bulk product, which may or may not be slightly different than that received in a standard retail package. Tied for first place!
I am a black licorice connoisseur, eating at least a pound of licorice a week. I have tried about every brand out there (dozens). This is some of the best. Following are the reasons it ties for 1st place in my book:1. Rich, strong, robust licorice flavor.2. The perfect balance between sweet & salty. Cheaper licorice is too sweet., and not the least bit salty. You need a little of both.3. Texture. Nicely firm, chewy, but not gummy.Like I said, it ties for first place. Finnish by Halva is similar, but 4 times the price.

Cheapest I've seen -- and, believe me, I've looked!
My husband adores licorice, and this brand has been his fave for many years. I've compared its price and this is (so far) the cheapest, at about 51 cents per ounce (assuming free shipping.) "Vermont Country Store" charges 60 cents per, and I had been buying it from them, as they do have great, friendly customer service and I like most of their products. BUT, in these economic times, loyalty only "cuts it" just so far, right? Kookaburra remains the best!

DO NOT BUT IT FROM YANKEE TRADER!!!
Okay, let me preface this review with a caveat: I LOVE THIS LICORICE! I mean, I've been a fan of black licorice since I can remember, and over the years I had refined it down to RJ's as the best I had ever eaten... right up until I found Kookaburra Brand. This licorice is so good, I would give it 10 stars if I could. And I have purchased it through Amazon twice and been very happy with the results. That said, this most recent time I purchased it (by way of a "button" that read "Order it again"), it was THE WORST licorice I've ever eaten. Bar none. The difference is, this order was fulfilled using licorice provided by YANKEE TRADERS. It LOOKS just like Kookaburra and even says Kookaburra on the label, but it is CLEARLY not the same licorice at all!The true Kookaburra brand is soft and creamy in your mouth, whereas this crap was harder, plastic-y and tasted NOTHING like the other Kookaburra I had purchased previously. As far as I'm concerned, this was money wasted, as I will be throwing this crap in the garbage. It's so bad, that I refuse to eat it! And for someone who loves black licorice as much as I do, that's saying a lot!And I think what disturbs me the most, was that button that read, "Buy it again." If I click something that reads "buy it again", it should come from the same seller, SHOULDN'T IT???I didn't check the seller's name because I made the assumption that it WOULD be the same. That's on me. But the fact that you can click that button in good faith only to discover that "fulfilled by Amazon" means they pull it from whatever vender/seller's stuff is at hand. That's on Amazon.I will never trust them to provide good quality stuff again.

Addicted to Licorice
Being European, I am very selective when it comes to licorage. In America you can't find domestic made licorage holding up to any standard, unfortunately. I always order this product on line, either Kookaburra Australia, which is excellent, or from various European countries.Highly recommend this product. I also buy en gros a' 4 lbs to always have it on hand. An interesting fact, to read up on, is the history of licorice, it's nutritional and medicinal value.Eva C.

Kookaburra licorice is unique.
A small, local specialty shop used to handle this licorice making the shop a favorite, frequent stop for my shopping trips. It is quite different from the usual licorice available in supermarkets and big box stores. Kookaburra is more flavorful with its own unusual texture. The local shop no longer carries it. Amazon came to the rescue - and saved me a bit of money with their pricing. I've already recommended Amazon to friends as a source.
