Yes, there is a lift-out rack to help you take it out, very convenient

How hot does the outsides get? Hot enough to present a burn hazard?

I wouldn’t want to touch it. I would say a burn hazard for your skin we usually put something under it when it sits on my counter and make sure nothing is sitting to close to it.
