Exactly the tool I needed for a 2016 VW Golf R. Fit and aligned as designed.

The threads for the crank are fine but the threads for the nut to hold the crank sprocket in place were not machined correctly and the nut would not thread down. The threads on the shaft were machined smaller than the nut so the nut would slide 3/4 the way down the threaded portion and I could not get the nut to start correctly on the remaining threads. This looks like a machining / setup error and may not affect all units. *** Update - was sent an entire replacement. The replacement was threaded correctly and works as designed. I was able to get the job done without the new unit and it worked well holding in the crankshaft sprocket and not letting it move around. Anyone taking the crank damper off, i would highly recommend using this tool (or something similar). ***
