1. It is made with IC WS2811. One IC controls over three LEDs, which forms a circuit. One damaged circuit won't make the other malfunction. You can cut by the sissors line on the board to DIY per your need. 2. There are two extra wires reaching out on both ends, one is positive and the other is negative. They are for the extra power supply in parralle connection when you want to connect more than one strip. 3. There are solder points on the strip, it doesn't affect the using.
