I had an engine light that showed small leak detected in EVAP. I replaced the old cracked seal Gas cap with this one and the engine light went away. Dealer quoted me $1500 to fix the issue?! This was less than $20!

The check engine light came on in my 2014 Audi Q5. OBD2 scanner gave me the DTC code P0456 indicating that there was a small leak in the EVAP system. A common cause and relatively simple fix for this is to replace the fuel cap. So, I purchased and installed this cap, but the code never cleared. I ended up having to take my car in to a mechanic and they determined that there was a defect in the leak detection pump, so I had this replaced. Many miles later, the DTC code still had not cleared. I ended up switching the fuel cap back to the original one which is now 10 years old, and lo and behold, the code soon cleared and I was able to pass my state emissions test. Long story short, this fuel cap is junk, at least for this particular vehicle model.
