Set"a" does a 4 sided crimp, set b does a 6 side crimp. Which is better? Or why would I want one over the other (a square vs a hexagon tip)?

It really depends on what your crimping and the terminal it goes in. The square one is good on square openings. The 6 sided one is good on like half moon bottoms or round opening. With that said i have the 4 sided from another seller and it makes a triangle when crimped. These make a good hexagon shape everytime.

What is the difference between Set A and B?

The 6-4 set crimper crimps on 4 sides giving a square ferrule. The 6-6 set crimper crimps on 6 sides, giving a hexagon ferrule.

Do you have to adjust the settings when going from smaller wire to bigger awg?

No need to adjust.The ferrule crimping tool is self-adjusting,and the crimping area is AWG 23-7/0.25-10 mm.
