There’s no way it’s rated for 400lbs.
Was nice while it lasted. Definitely not rated for 400 lbs. I bought this for my Mother in law to use to get in and out of my truck during a road trip. It did work great for the duration of the trip about a week and then it cracked and now is unusable. So we got a few weeks out of it. Also the heaviest person the steps saw was me at a whopping 200 lbs, and yes i ensured to use it on even surface’s and it still cracked! But it did work great for what we were using it for. But still a 2 star due to not coming close to the standard it said it could handle.

Excellent step stool. better than many others that I have used or looked at
This is an excellent heavy duty step stool. folds up to about 2 in thick and about 12 or 14 in tall. so it can be tucked away behind the cabinet or next to a refrigerator and it's there. and very easy to open. You just lift the center handle and it separates into the full stool and it is very sturdy.
