Cameras
Great picture quality and night vision. The cameras themselves are super sturdy and seem to be made fully of metal with no plastic. Easy to setup.

ZOSI DVR Reliable & stable 24/7 system
The Zosi DVR & Cameras are very easy to set up & I did the installation myself at home and found no difficulties during the setup. Live view is pretty good and I am quite impressed with the quality of these cameras. During the day & night, the picture is bright and clear. It records all channels and I can monitor it from mobile, tv, laptop everywhere. When I placed the order, it came super fast and communication with the vendor has been excellent. ZOSI support team is always helpful and responding promptly to customer queries. Before buying and after the purchase I contacted them to inquire about the product and always got positive response. I found it very Reliable & stable 24/7 system. Hard drive storage is enough for me. It supports up to 8 cameras which is enough for my home and the good thing is all cameras are water proof with with 24/7 Non stop recording & Night vision supports.

Quality system for the right price.
Good quality camera system for the price. The online setup video is no help at all but the directions that come with it were enough help to be able to figure it out. Cameras are durable and have a clear picture. The terabytes hard drive has enough storage for my needs.

Here is the home security system for you.
The I purchased this system, was someone broke into my son's new/used car 2 weeks after he bought it, stealing over $500 in electronics; GPS, Radar Detector, and Dash Camera, add in the cost to replace the broken window, and it's a no brainier to figure out I need a camera DVR. First off the instructions to place the DVR on the Internet are nonexistent, however, a duckduckgo.com search will return more then enought help for you. The short answer is you have to open port (37777) on your firewall to allow the DVR to be seen via your cellphone or remote PC. The DVR presets allow for recording out of the box, and its internet settings are set to DHCP by default, so networking is pretty simple, its dealing with your Cable Modem or DSL modem that's hard; more on that later. The camera's have a nice clean, clear picture, and during low light automatically turn on the IR LEDs and the camera switches to Black and White mode; there isn't anyway to see other then B/W using IR illumination, that's just the way the world is. If you try and use a camera at night pointing outside through a window, the IR LEDs will cause the window to act like a mirror and you won't see anything. The cables that come with the unit are 18.3 meters or 60 feet for the rest of us in the free world. They sell additional cables at a very inexpensive price, so there's no need to make your own. The ends on the cables prevent you from plugging into the cameras wrong, so even with the addition of extra cables it's a simple installation; you will have to buy some female to female BNC barrels to use with the extensions. There's a selection under "Networking" that is labeled "WiFi", however, it only works with a WiFi USB adapter sold buy some other vendor. There's 2 USB ports on the back of the DVR, the top port is marked "USB 2.0", I assume for a thumb drive for backing up recorded data, and the bottom is is labeled "USB Mouse", which was included; the optical mouse worked in both ports, so I'm thinking the DVR doesn't support a Keyboard. There is very little need for a keyboard since all the information to be entered is easily accomplished via a mouse and the only time I wanted a keyboard was to enter in the password. There's a setting for allowing the DVR to obtain time off the internet using NTP, however, I still had to manually set the time the very first time, there's support for DST, however, you have to tell the DVR which days to start and stop DST. Power for the DVR comes from a small wall wart, however, there are terminal connections to allow for the use of 2 wires to supply power, the cameras are supplied from a separate power supply, one power supply can support 8 cameras, and an octopus cable is supplied for this. Another nice design feature ZOSI did, was adding a slot in the side of the bottom bracket of the camera. The slot is to allow the cables to be run outside of the mounting plate in the case you're not able to drill a hole behind the mounting plate. If you do drill a hole behind the mounting plate, all your wires will be hidden from view and you'll have a very clean installation. I used the HDMI connection to connect to my TV for use as a display, there's also a VGA port that could be used, however, at the cost of HDMI TV's it's probably the connection most users will use. The display allows you to see up to 9 cameras at once realtime, and double clicking on any one picture will expand it to full screen. I only own a 740p TV, however the cameras output 1080p to it without any problem. Getting on to the internet : after reading the online documentation for getting the DVR to be seen from a device on the internet I found that I had to add a Port Forwarding rule to allow port 37777 to the DVR. This will require you to hard code an IP address into the DVR, which is very easy, its figuring out how to add the Port Forwarding to your DSL/Cable modem that may give you problems. If your modem supports adding a DMZ, you could also add the DVR to the DMZ and not bother with Port Forwarding. Each modem is different so once again duckduckgo.com may be need to find help on this. You'll need to remember to turn WiFi off on your cellphone when trying to test the remote viewing application, since when your cellphone is on the same network as the DVR the firewall rules don't apply. The Android ZOSI viewing application isn't as easy to navigate as I'd expect, I don't own an iPhone so I can't speak to that application. One thing I DID NOT like about the ZOSI's Android application, is it requires you to give it an unreasonable amount of access to your phone's resources; why do they need access to your camera, contacts, and a host of other items? ZOSI, fix this, or at least explain why you need all of this access. The remote display is downgraded to prevent over use of your network data plan on your cell phone, I've played with it a bit, however, I can't say if this is a setting that can be changed. I did figure out that you can remotely capture video from a camera onto your cell phone, and also play back video as well. As I learn more about the system I may post more. I've yet to try and add a WiFi camera to the system, as I still have to install all 8 cameras, but I'll try that next and post the results.

Zosi Great Value, best experience Ive had, worked right out of the box AAA+++
Ive had CCTV systems before and found the worst part of it all was dealing with the internet hook up so you can monitor via the internet when away from home. Countless hours with the desktop computer, router, wifi, the DVR etc. All trying to hit the right connection to make that happen. Even going so far as to get a man in who is more savvy than I to hook it all up. Well with this Zosi system I found that it was great value for the money and that everything worked right out of the box. I unboxed it. plugged everything in and hooked it up. And whoa, it all worked. I scanned the QR with my iphone 11 pro max as well as 2 air Ipads I use in separate rooms as on the wall moniters, and Bob's your uncle and Fanny's your aunt it worked flawlessly. I did have a couple camera issues about a week later, but emails to Zosi were answered immediately and "Slina" who is a company service agent and I was lucky to have on my case was the greatest. He was deligent, professional, friendly, knowledgeable and went above and beyond in helping me and solving my specific issue. AAA+++

Great system for the price - please read
I got the Zosi 8-channel 1080p camera system with 2TB DVR. Given the affordable price, I considered this system to be entry level, but likely good enough for surveilling my home. I was right; I’ve had it installed for a few weeks now and I am satisfied with it. I did not want a wifi camera system so I bought this hard-wired system. Wires are more reliable and I don’t need 8 or 9 more devices on my wifi router. I bench-tested every camera and wire before permanently installing anything. The cameras work well. The resolution is good but since the lens has a very wide angle, the corners of the image are less sharp than the center. But this is acceptable to me because the wide lens covers a lot of area. The BNC cables work acceptably, but I found that 65 feet was not long enough. To get to the four corners of my home’s exterior (3200 sq ft), I needed to purchase some other-brand 100-ft and 150-ft cables. I found that both the Zosi and the aftermarket cables are susceptible to visible feedback in the images, especially when the wires are bent near the connectors. I got them all to work acceptably, but you get what you pay for. The DVR I initially received was easy to set up and worked well, except that it would reboot itself every couple of hours. Zosi customer service helped me address it and eventually shipped me a new DVR unit at no cost. This has solved the problem. They are helpful and responsive, but they are located in China so emails generally have a 1-day turnaround time. Reviewing recorded footage works but it is not intuitive. There are a lot of unmarked icons to figure out. But it works. The app works but it is a little clunky. Each time I open it when away from the home wifi, I have to tell it to connect to the cameras. At first the app couldn’t see the cameras away from home. Zosi had to help me tweak settings on the DVR and my router (like disabling the firewall!) to get it to work. It does work reliably now. Again, you get what you pay for. There is also a desktop application for viewing the cameras, but you can only load it via the supplied mini-CD (what is this, 1999?) and it only shows the footage in low resolution. But it works. Overall, for the price I am happy with this system. I can view my house at home live on my TV, away from home on my phone, or later via playback. A high-end professional system would have cost several thousand dollars. This system meets my needs and could be used by any homeowner or small business.

Don't recommend Frustrating ownership experience
Was initially impressed with this camera system. The camera quality was pretty clear and the software was not too difficult to learn. Then I started to notice the issues with this system. First of all the camera sensitivity was unpredictable to say the least. One camera, despite having the highest sensitivity, only picked up motion if your were within approx. 8 feet of the camera. The other 3 had similar issues but worked well most of the time. I would test them by walking around the property while my son would tell me if I trigged motion. Then there was the heat issue. The dvr would heat up to 110 degrees (measured) resulting in the dvr rebooting multiple times per day. Took off the cover and discovered that there was no cooling fan to help dissipate the heat. It only had ventilation slits in the under part of the dvr box. Fixed that by installing a 4 inch square cooling fan which I installed underneath the dvr which drastically helped keep it cool. It was the hottest device I have ever owned. Playback was unpredictable and frustrating. I would playback video and the playback would freeze up. Sometimes to a point where it would reboot. The menu system was pretty well laid out in that it was easy to figure out after a week or so of use. But in the end, freezing playback was very frustrating. Sometimes playback camera (1 or 2 out of the four) would go blank for no reason. Sometimes on playback, one of the camera would freeze and the others would keep playing. Although cooling helped the constant rebooting, it never really stopped. I tried multiple troubleshooting solutions which would only help for a bit, at least I thought so, but the rebooting would never stop. I found myself spending way too much time trying to get it working right and in the end, it got too frustrating to have so I gave up on it. On the plus side, camera quality is very good and the dvr is small and lightweight. Hopefully others are having better experiences but as far as I'm concerned, I can't recommend this product. I'm in the process of returning it and recently found a much better system without any of these issues. It cost about $40 more but it looks and works much better. Update: Purchased a similar camera that uses ethernet cable rather than Zosi's bnc cable. It is made by Sannce (Amazon) and It has been wonderful so far. No issues whatsoever.

Good DVR system with very hard to use software.
Here is my story, I own a computer company and I have installed over 30 DVR systems for clients. So I have seen a ton of them. The one in my home was 6 years old, and the hard drive was dead and it was so old that it only worked with a very old version of IE and that just was not going to do any more, so on black friday I bought a new one. After looking around I tried this one. I put it in place, and hooked up my existing cameras and it works instantly. That is great. Then I went to install the software. This DVR has you set up an account online and then you can log into that account from various devices, anther great idea, and it made the config on 2 phones and 2 computers fairly easy to use.....But that is about it. When you first connect you have to add each camera separately to the camera software. You can't just select show them all. So I added them one by one, connecting slowly to each. I have never seen another software do this. If you close the software then when you reopen it it asks to log in again then it asks if "You want to reload the channel that was opened when it was last closed" You hit "Conform" and a few seconds later all of your cameras are connected. A nice touch is that, on my network, at least the cameras have very little delay, well under a quarter of a second. Their software however has a VERY small window. It takes up less than 1/4 of the width of my screen and less than 1/3rd the height, and there is NO WAY to make it larger. If you drag the window to move it and you are still moving when you release the mouse button it does not drop the window, but it seems to fly away, off the desktop. There is no way to access the software any more, you have to force close it and reload it. I have also noticed that it does this if you drag any part of the software off the right edge of your screen as you move it. Next I try to do the playback....Every time you click the playback button you just get a blank image that says ZOSI and you need to add the cameras again. Playback does not seem to have a way to save the layout. You have to click on the Device in the Device List, then click on a camera you want to add to the layout. You would think that should do something like show the camera, but no it only shows the history of motion on a graph for that camera.....so then you think that maybe you click on that graph to see the camera....but no that does not work...that does nothing. If you hold down the button on the bottom bar which shows the whole day, the top bar that shows just an hour will move.....but again you can't click it to actually show anything. Right click does nothing, keyboard commands do nothing. But if you right click on the Channel on the device list you get a play button and that finally shows the camera. So now you would like to move the camera view to the time on one of those timelines......well that is not going to happen. Even when playing back the video NOTHING you do to those timelines does anything to change the playback. You are given a few buttons, you have fast forward button, that you can change to different speeds, you also have a rewind one. I set the fast forward to 16x and rewind to 1x. If the video is stopped and you hit the fast forward button, then it will play back....AT NORMAL SPEED. Click again to go full speed....but no it is not 16x....it is closer to 8x.....and 32x is closer to 10x. And it goes even slower if you add more cameras. If you hit the record button, all the cameras in your layout disappear except the first one. Those other cameras are now locked until you stop them and add them again. I can go on and on but needless to say it is HUGE MESS. So after that I was expecting very little from the Phone app. And it was as bad as expected. So it does bring your layout back up....but it does NOT show you live video right away, instead it shows you the image from the last time the app was open. To get live video you have to click on EACH camera, and let it load for 2-3 seconds and them back out, then do that 8 more times. Once you do all of them it will work. If you click on the 4 camera view it will update those four a bit faster then you can swipe left to do the next four. Once it connects it has good quality and is fairly fast. Every time you swipe from one group of 4 to the other you have to reload, which takes about 8 seconds on the same wifi network and much longer over mobile data. Doing video playback on mobile is surprisingly easy. You simply camera, then a date then it shows you the timeline and you can slide up and down and it will play. You can even play back at faster speed. You swipe left and right to select different cameras at the same time. Does not seem like there is a way to jump to a specific camera. The fast forward 15 sec button seems to take 5 seconds to load each time, so that is a bit lame. All in all the mobile app is much better than the AVSS pc app, though I wish it was faster. BTW there is no online help for the PC app. It seems that they also have a web based app. First you have to install a server on your computer, then you access it from your chrome browser. Right away it is better than the PC app because you can actually make it larger! You still need to add cameras to the layout. BUT it does not save your layout....if you close the window and try to load it later, it will NOT work. I found that you need to stop the service and then relaunch it...rebooting your computer should also work. But do I really want a service running on my computer using resources so I can use this web connection. Trying replay does not work at all, even when you connect with a camera it will not display video, changing the date does nothing but update the timeline bar. In short the DVR itself is nice, and they tried but this is NOT ready for the consumer, which is sad and surprising for how long this as been out. I tried the DVR from the actual machine and it was ok. From phone, PC or web it just does not work.
