Ranger RGRINK.57505 Texture Paste Opaque Crackle

I'm using this in a project covering a box and this is working great to make a crackle effect to make my box appear old and a bit corroded. It only takes a little and is easy to apply. I've not tried another product so have nothing to compare this to, but it works great. It's a little pricey but will last me forever.

I use this a lot in my art journals. Pricy though for such a small jar, but it works well. It does what it suppose to. It does last if used properly.

Just put on a thin layer of varnish or pva (school) glue over the base and then this stuff works well, or just us a thin layer of paint, it works pretty good then too. It goes on a little thicker than the GW crackle paint but it's easier to apply as a result of that. It's easy to get it thin or thick to vary the depth of the crackling.

As shown in my pictures, this product develops deep, riverbed like cracks throughout. I was initially concerned it would not take, but as it dries it develops more texture. It has the approximate texture of cool whip, and is uncomplicated to apply. It does not self-level, so apply it with a flat tool and smooth out any points. Minor flaws in the smoothness of application are desirable as they form a realistic texture. Full disclosure, before applying, I put down a thin layer of Elmer's glue and let it sit for 10 minutes until tacky but not dry. I do not know if this is a superstition or actually helpful, but I am pleased with the result regardless. As you can see in the attached video, a 3 foot fall to an uncarpeted surface did not cause any damage or crumbling. In other words, it looks good, doesn't crumble and is cheaper then GW product. This will be my miniature basing product for some time for lava and desert environments.

Great product! I was completely surprised at how is absorbs all moisture. Heads up if you apply it straight to a canvas it can pull some of it in. I would recommend a base coat before applying. The thicker you apply the paste the better chances some may flake off. But even an extremely thin layer you’re still able to see the effect! Would 10/10 purchase again
