The right tool for replacing shutoff valves
Used the compression sleeve puller today to remove four under sink valves. Plumbing is not my favorite home improvement project since it usually takes longer than expected, involves a trip or two to the big box stores and sometimes inevitably ends up with an expensive plumber at my house to fix the mess I create. Armed with this tool, some helpful videos on YouTube and four push-on Shark Grip caps, this project was a snap. The tool itself is very easy to use and the directions are pretty straightforward. I like that it was the metal tool was well made and durable. Once you screw the nut of the shutoff valve onto the end of the tool, a couple turns later and the compression nut slides right off your 1/2-inch pipe. The tool is also not very large, so it would work well in tight spaces such as under a bathroom sink. I feel like I should use this tool to replace all of my shutoff valves now since it made it so easy.

Performed as advertised
Worked great! I had initial reservations, but needed to get project done. So, I bought and this puller exceeded my expectations. Performed as advertised. I was able to complete 3 sink projects. My only (small) complaint is the handle is thin and will dig into palm-- so wear a slightly thicker glove you typically use during compression ring removal. Officially, this is a 4.5 stars rating :)

Gets the job done painlessly!
I am an advanced DIYer but plumbing is my nemesis. Overhauling a bathroom, both of the 60 year old 1/2" compression shutoffs for the faucet began dripping not long after pulling the vanity out, about a gallon per day each. They were shot. From past experience, I knew removing the old ferrules was a potential problem, so I ordered this tool. Removing the old valves was easy, then I threaded this puller into the back nut. About 15 turns later, the old nut and ferrule were off! The tool did exactly what it was supposed to do. As a tool nerd, it doesn't have the feel of a "professional" puller. The threading was a bit loose and coarser and it probably wouldn't hold up to everyday, long term use. But for a DIY guy, it's exactly what I needed, at a reasonable price. I do suggest using some WD40 on the shaft threads to smooth things out but that should not detract from the tool's performance. I cut back the copper to before the old ferrule's location, cleaned it, and installed new 1/4 turn valves. Turned the water back on, and had no leaks whatsoever. For the price and function, it earns five stars.

Perfect for removing ferrule from 1/2" toilet supply line with existing compression valve.
This tool worked perfectly to remove the copper ferrule from the toilet supply pipe. This tool works better than the larger one, since if your existing pipe length is too close to the wall, you will not be able to get the grabber claw behind the ferrule and nut to pull it off. This one does not require getting behind the nut at all. Since you can pull the ferrule off, you do not need to cut the copper pipe behind it (which in some cases would make it too short to install a new valve and escutcheon).
