When plugged into the power adapter, the screen turns black, what is the reason for this?

The screen won't stay on. It has fresh batteries and is plugged into power.We returned it.

Did I read correctly that the screen turns dark for 7 minutes every hour to set the time?

I read that too. However, I have not seen it do that. I an still trying to get mine to show "real time" and not the world clock. Every time I set it to "real time" it reverts back to the world clock winthin 24-48 hrs

Has anyone else noticed their weather station turning the screen off while scanning to set the date automatically? Normal behavior or not?

Make sure you have the time set CORRECTLY manually (AM/PM or 24 Hr clock). Once you are sure it is set correctly, you will most likely never see the screen blanking again as it only does it once per hour at 1am, 2am, 3am, 4am and 5am. THIS IS NORMAL, it is attempting to connect/synchronize to the Atomic clock. The duration of the blank out could be as long as 7 minutes (each time), but no more than that, and the display will return to normal. This is clearly spelled out in the user guide (page 10 & 11 under ATOMIC TIME).
