works great for headless computer
I am using my old desktop to run a plex server, file hosting, and some other things. I noticed weird issues when I tried to connect to it via remote desktop, also some other issues w/plex too. That's when I discovered that video cards/windows don't always play nice when you don't have a monitor plugged into it. Anyway, bought this, plugged it in, everything working as expected now.

Painless hardware hack for headless Mac Mini
Silly this is required to have a headless Mac without 3rd party software, but it works well and is affordably priced.

Using it on a mini lenovo with Linux on it. Works perfectly. I no longer get the message โNo displayโ from Rust Desktop. Iโm using a DP adapter and still works fine.

NOT a Passthrough
I've purchased similar products before, but they're small and wander away when not in use. I thought this was similar, but found the connector does NOT accept a male HDMI cable to plug into the plug. If you were to use this from your DVR, you need a splitter to be able to have output from the DVR. Other than that, works great. My TV supposedly supports 4K, but when I use 4K input, video is very irregular. I used this to force my DVR to be 1920x1080 since video wasn't stable at 4K. Every time the DVR downloaded an update, it reset to 4K, so I needed to correct it in flashing video. Instead, I needed a 1-3 splitter instead of my 1-2, but the video is stable. DVR is now sticking to 1920x1080.
