If I put this on the pole above my house, is there a way to safely ground this so it doesn't get fried during a storm?

Considering this is a battery powered device with no wires going to it, I would think you could simply install it on a fiberglass pole and not have to worry about lighting at all.

Can you provide detailed instructions on how to update the firmware on the WS90. Thanks

HI, friend. Thank you for putting forward your question. About updating the firmware of WS90, please refer this linik : https://www.ecowitt.com/shop/goodsDetail/249 I hope this information could be useful for you.

If I wanted to monitor 16 plants can 2 of these units be operated in close proximity to each other?

I'm not sure what "2 of these units" you are referring to. This is under the Wittboy section at Amazon. But yes you can use multiple gateways each monitoring 8 soil sensors. But you will have to manually configure each gateway to specific sensors.

Is the wind both speed & gust? Is total rain available in the app with out any internet? Is this station good for remote camping?

I use my older Ecowitt without internet. It reports via rf to ecowitt module which puts it onto my netork. Then raspberry pi zero w that is running Weewx and gets the data that logs everything and displays it in graphs for day, week, year. Not sure if this newer version is supported by Weewx or not but worth looking into.

Great hub for Ecowitt / Fine Offset devices.

Provides hardwire network connection and compatible with Ecowitt and related sensor system. The Ecowitt app is the main winner for me. I can monitor vacation home temp humidity and leak detection remotely. For fun I have wind speed sensor outdoors along the sea side dunes. Probably 150-200 ft between sensor and gateway.

Excellent weather station hub

Love that this install so easily, is small and easily concealed. Provides temperature and barometric pressure readings as well as humidity and interfaces with numerous Ecowitt sensors, such as wind, rain, and multiple temperature sensors that can be added at any time. The app for PC or iPhone is great and allows easy reading of the data. Also it interfaces with Ambient weather products as well. A great buy for the weather enthusiast.

Easy setup, works fine.

Was very easy to setup and sensor linking is a breeze. iPhone app is a little rough around the edges but passable. It can send data to other weather services with a simple setup.
