Battle Angel Alita: Last Order Omnibus 1

“Battle Angel Alita” was an incredible manga to binge on as we follow a young cyborg girl who got a second life in a post apocalyptic world. I wasn’t surprised that Alita’s story was far from over and jumping into her next series “Last Order”, it’s still has that same heart pounding storytelling.Picking up from the original nine-volume series, our cyborg heroine Alita wakes up from a slumber in the sky city of Tiphares and learns she’s been given a new mechanical body by the evil Nova, the man responsible for changing her life forever. She also learns that everything has changed, the town citizens have controlling biochips for brains and how it’s now a struggle for survival. She meets some unexpected acquaintances on her quest and it looks like Nova has his own help that will attempt to stop her by all means while seeing memories from her past. The biggest surprise of all is that Alita’s journey will take her to space that has its own civilization and is just as dangerous as home. We also get two short stories by the author that are like small fantasies.An amazing beginning from this follow-up series that has a lot of what we saw from it’s predecessor while being a few new characters, a whole new environment and even a few familiar faces. The best thing is that there’s a lot of action and Alita battling many enemies throughout it all. There’s still a few questions I hope to see answered as the series goes on, yet I’m so excited and antsy to see where her new story will take her. <b>A (100%/Outstanding)</b>

Unique and always with surprises. Alita gets us into a Solar System in a phase of change. The visions of future really feel alien and probable. What makes it real is the contrast with Alita clinging to her humanity despite the chances he has to be more than human as her mission is to rescue the brain of her friend, which leads her to go beyond Mars. Said that the plot has a lot of action, combats, enemies and unsuspected allies; either you read it just for entertainment sake or for thought provoking fantasy you will be at home with this omnibus. The only aspect I was not sure was the translation, I don't speak Japanese so not sure if it is correct but the way of the characters to use much slang seems a bit dubious, but then again it could be a very correct translation. Other than that it was a great volume and as a bonus there are two unrelated, and entertaining, short stories of seemingly post-apocalyptic nature.

Golly, I wish they'd make Real Nice Copies of this like they did for the original Battle Angel Alita series. These books would kick ass as hardcovers!

I saw the anime and read the a large portion of the original series (Gunnm) as paper manga, but tired of the constant arena battles. This continuation/reboot picks up some time after I stopped reading that series and seems to continue with the story. As long as it does not drift back into constant arena battles, I think it will remain interesting. So far, the story elements are keeping my interest and I have purchased volume 2 to find out what happens next.The drawing is as I remember, and there is a good smattering of humor amidst the angst and bloodshed.While not specific to this title, and not affecting my review, I think this note could be helpful for others looking to read manga electronically. This is the first time I am reading manga on a tablet, and I think the Kindle and comiXology readers do a good job -- I like the right-to-left format being respected. And, it is nice that I can pull in manga from my Amazon account. It is too bad that they're separate apps, though.

This is my first omnibus purchase ever, I was worried some that I would miss all the individual covers but obviously that art and story makes it up. This is a great option if you can't find the first volumes on paperback any more. The paper could be better tho.Also, this is rather personal but I don't see how quoting J. Cameron on that back make it more appealing? I would rather not have to read it each time I reach the end of the volume.

Now this is a classic. Plus since I have it loaded on my kindle, I dont have to rummage around endless boxes in the attic to get to my old copies. This lead to Ghost in the Shell and Zeiram: The Animation for me.

Can a recreated brain be human and have a soul? Can a civilization where their brains have been replaced by microchips be human still? Like other Japanese Science Fiction these questions are explored. However, for those who like action and fights Alita is also for you. This is the re-envisioned Alita and you need not to know the previous early series, or her youthful Mars series to enjoy.

Si no has leído la primera parte de "gunm" mejor conocida como "battle angel alita" olvídalo, este manga no es para ti porque se trata de una continuación directa. Si ya lo leíste no te arrepentirás, el guión flaquea a ratos pero el arte y la calidad del papel son sublimes. Este mangaka que merece mucho más fama de la que tiene.

It is slower paced as Battle Angel Alita, but the details to the world, the story, and the search of Alita's self is amazing.Delivery: package in cardboard box, sufficiënt for transport.Undamaged and fast delivered.
