Rim Tape (2-Pack), 16mm

Bought this when my tire went flat (the original Velox rim tape I had, had migrated to the side and the tube contacted the spoke holes and I got a flat). I put this rim tape in and could not get the new tire in no matter how I did it. I've had motorcycle tires that were easier to fit than these tires. I was eventually drawn to the conclusion that the bead was not sitting in the "well" on the other side of the tire, and hence, I couldn't get the last little bit of the tire over the rim. The reason the bead wouldn't go down? Because this 16mm tape was too wide. The tape should fit in the little groove and cover the spoke holes, but that's it! It should not egress out onto the walls of that well. I went to my local bike shop and picked up some 11mm velox rim tape and that fit fine; tire fits okay and all is well. In summary, a great product but make SURE you get the right size.

If you are a frequent and/or long-distance cycler like me, you are no stranger to flats and changing inner-tubes when you least expect it. Many people do not, however, realize that their is rim tape inside their rims and/or that it can fatigue over time and needs replacement. This is excellent tape, does the job of protecting your tubes and lasts. Definitely recommend.

Bought 4 rolls of this last year and immediately used two rolls to re-tape two 27 inch rims. For my 700c x 35 rims I used the 16mm size. Went on easily, stayed where I put it and provided more protection than the rubber bands that were supplied with the rim. When I had to replace 2 broken spokes the tape was easy to move and stayed put when re-positioned. Looked briefly at other rim tapes, but Velox is clearly the best.

This was my first time buying rim tape and based on reviews I went with Velox. The installation went pretty well and it seems to be working fine.

Have used this stuff for a few decades on different bike wheel sets. Lasts for a very long time. Get the right size for your rims and it will save you a ton of time and money not having to fix as many flats! Cheap rim tape is pointless. You end up paying more in the end with all the flats. This is quality stuff. Recommended.

I just bought a used Cannondale Slice and it's probably at least 11 years old. I was getting flats on brand new tubes after anywhere from .5 - 3 miles into a ride....every ride. I was using the old tubes and tires so didn't know where to start with troubleshooting. After 3 tubes popped and new tires and tubes all around, I finally did what I'll definitely do next time after the first flat. I inflated the 3 popped tubes and found the holes to be in different places, though all on the inside of the rim, and not snakebite shaped like a tube caught between the rim and the tire. After some web research and looking at my rim tape, I figured I'd replace it. The existing rim tape was not broken in any way, it was just dimpled in at the spoke holes. This dimpling was enough to blow the tubes at pressure. I've put 100+ miles on the bike since replacing the rim tape and zero blown tires. Speaks for itself.

Working really well. Nice and thick for tube protection. Used one on my trek hybrid when I replaced the rear wheel and the other on a 24 tire folding bike when the cheap thin rubber rim protection wore out. Could use a bit more adhesive in my opinion.

Rim tape is something cyclists don’t think about . . . Until we start to get unexplained flats and do some investigating and find a tiny crack in the original rim tape that got hard over time. My bike mechanic recommended cloth rim tape and this brand. He has seen a lot more wheel related troubles than me, so I listen to him. The tape seems durable and is easy to install. It’s not real sticky on the back side, which is a good thing if you put it on a little crooked and need to adjust it.

As described, package contains 2 rolls. Each roll was enough for 1 26" wheel with a bit left over. Easy to install and adjust, and feels like a quality product, nice and thick.

Simple and easy to use.
