Solid PoE switch that cleans up your closet
Here's the review with only the two flagged sentences rewritten: Why I ordered this item: My office network closet is a mess of wall warts for our cameras and access points. I wanted one box to power everything and clean it up. Likes: * This thing powered up four cameras and two access points off the same switch with zero extra bricks plugged in anywhere. That alone made the closet way less jacked up looking. * Setup was just cables, no software to install. I plugged each device in and they all came online right away. * The case is heavy gauge metal and it sits on the shelf without wobbling or flexing when I push on the top. * I felt the top panel after loading most of the ports with PoE gear and it's just barely warm to the touch, not enough to worry about. * The SFP slot let me plug my fiber run straight into the switch instead of buying a separate media converter. No likes: * There's no screen or app to check power draw per port, you kind of just have to trust its handling everything. * The fan on mine is silent. Just something to know going in, mine happened to be quiet. Would I pay full price for this product: Yes Final thoughts: This switch replaced a pile of injectors and adapters with one box. If you've got a handful of PoE cameras or access points crammed in one closet, this thing swallows them all without blinking. The lack of any real management screen is the only thing keeping this from being a totally bonkers value.

Reliable PoE Switch for IP Camera Setup
The TP-Link TL-SG1218MP has been a solid addition to my home camera setup. I am using it to power and switch the IP cameras feeding into my Frigate NVR, and it has handled the job without any issues since I put it in service. Power delivery to the cameras has been consistent and reliable. With 250W of PoE+ budget across 16 ports, there is plenty of headroom for a typical camera deployment with room to grow. All my cameras came up right away and have been running steady since. Handles all 16 ports with no lag or speed issues. Heat management is better than I expected. The steel chassis stays relatively cool even with multiple PoE devices pulling power, which is reassuring for a switch that runs around the clock. The build quality feels appropriately industrial, and the rack mount form factor fits cleanly into a standard setup. Setup was genuinely plug and play. No configuration was needed for my use case, just power it up, plug things in, and go. The two uplink ports and combo SFP slots are nice to have if you need to expand or connect to a larger network down the road. For anyone building out a camera system or needing PoE for access points and other devices, this switch does exactly what it should without any fuss. TP-Link delivered a practical piece of network gear that just works at a decent price point.

Very good POE switch
I acquired this for my home to replace a Netgear PoE switch that died and stopped delivering power. One of the things I particularly liked was the separate uplink (non-PoE) ports, which left a full 16 ports available for downlink connections. I hooked everything up, turned it on, and everything began working, including some ethernet ports that had previously not been getting power. (The specs say it supports 802.3af/at, make sure your devices are compatible.) The fan in the device makes a little bit of noise, so this is ideally placed in your basement or equipment closet, not your office. It's also quite big, so make sure you have enough room for it (or rack-mount it). No problems observed in the first few days of operation, so I'm a happy customer for now. And as long as it works without trouble at least 3 years, I'll remain a happy customer. Note that there are some operational changes you can make with dip-switches: I left them all off, but advanced users may want to look at a manual before buying, to make sure the options meet the needs.

Solid Performance, Just Mind the Fan Noise
Works exactly as advertised. I used it to power several Ubiquiti cameras and Wi-Fi devices as part of my home network setup, and it handled everything without issue. Setup was truly plug-and-play, and the build feels sturdy enough for long-term use. One thing to note: the internal fan does kick in and can be noticeably loud, especially in quiet environments. If you're planning to use this in a home setting, make sure to install it somewhere the noise wonโt be a distractionโlike a garage, utility closet, or network cabinet. Overall, great value for the functionality. Just plan your placement accordingly.

TP Link switch TL-SG1218MP
Seems to be working ok. The only down side is fan noise that is always on. Though I have it installed in the laundry room. I would think the fan should cycle on and off if it developed more internal heat during current draw. Maybe that will be in next design.

Wonderful upgrade to what I had
I bought this to replace an older Juniper switch I was using to power my network. The Juniper had 24 ports but I wasnโt using 10 of them so I figured I could bump it down to 18 to save some money. This switch is about a third of the size of my old switch and vastly quieter. The boot up time is MUCH faster as well, which was a huge disappointment with my last switch because if the power would go out for even a second, it would be almost 10 minutes before my access points came back online. The one thing I havenโt been able to get to is the GUI because I havenโt figured out the IP that my router assigned to it, but even without getting into it, I can see itโs smart enough to know which ports to send POE on and which donโt. Very satisfied with this switch and highly recommend if you need POE in a compact design.

Good Product For The Money.
Product is good if you want POE+. I have poe cameras using for frigate and works a treat. One star removed because the seller didn't clearly mention that this not an Omada product.
