COBIHistorical Collection World War II Junkers JU-88 Plane, 1180 pcs

I don’t ever leave reviews on anything.I’m one of THOSE people who reads them all but never leaves any.I’m so impressed with these COBI builds. The quality is exactly like Lego. Thick bricks and they fit together perfectly.My 10 year old had started his WWII collection with this set and 3 others he’s built.Thanks COBI for making exactly what boys love to play with and build!

Assembling the wings is a major challenge! For whatever reason, Cobi has decided that both wings be built simultaneously. It’s hard to decide which pieces go to which wing. In addition, it’s hard to tell what color green is to be used. Furthermore, because Cobi has already positioned pieces “fade to grey”, it’s hard to check if you’ve done things correctly. To complicate things even more, “non standard” bricks are used. For example, you expect bricks to be in a 2x6, 2x8, 2x10 etc. format. In this kit there are several 2x5 and 2x7 pieces. You have to be super careful which bricks you pick or the assembly won’t work. I had to build 1 wing four times to get in right. Just started bag 2 (of 4). I’ll provide progress. I’ve now completed the plane. The model can be built with gear up or down. There are no stickers, instead parts come pre painted, a nice touch. I painted the insides of the cowlings black. Only disappointment is the canopy, which has no glass. Would have preferred a clear canopy with painted lines.

I really enjoyed building this plane, something different. As with some other plane kits the wings seem a bit weak until you finish it up and they are solid.
