You'll wonder at these little gems, and wonder how they did it. And that's the great thing about these little cars: they open up the imagination of young students, and give them the push they may need to begin to explore the technical wonders around them. We live in a marvelous world, and one day solar energy will play a very prominent role in supplying that world's needs. Your little students can do their part in making the certain future a part of their careers and aspirations - they just need a playful nudge in the direction of science and engineering. These little cars just may do the trick. What a pleasure it will be one day to have your little gal or guy tell you that science is important in his life and work - all because of a little gift you gave him: The world's smallest solar car

Works great outdoors in direct sunlight!
This little toy is so TINY and cool!! It's barely the size of a nickel, but it's made really well. Let me just say, it ONLY works in strong, direct sunlight. It will not work under a lamp or even in weak winter sunlight. But take it outside on a sunny summer day and it's like a tiny jet car! It takes a few seconds to store up a little bit of energy and suddenly it will take off like mad. I put mine on the railing around our back deck and it goes VERY fast, shoots off the deck and keeps on going if it lands on the driveway. It's amazing how fast it is for how small. All the people who said in reviews that it's "broken" or "doesn't work" did not follow the instructions and try it outside in strong sunlight. As long as it stays upright in the sun it will keep going and going. A couple times I almost lost it. The flatter and smoother the surface you put it on, the better. I tried putting it on macadam and unless it's REALLY smooth (like a driveway) it's a little too bumpy and the car will flip itself over. The best thing is a cement sidewalk or wooden deck boards. Kids have a blast sending it back & forth to each other. Sometimes if the sun is strong enough, I can get it to roll across the desk or the windowsill. It's cute, amazing & fun, and teaches kids about how solar energy works. And it SHOULD teach adults how to read directions, which apparently some of them are incapable of.

Sunny Days
At first I thought that these cars didn't work (I bought 2 to "race"). It took some trial and error to find the right place to race them. They need direct sun and will not work if there is even the faintest amount of clouds in the sky. Having said that, the cars zip along on very bright, sunny days. The best place for my cars turned out the be the street because there weren't any shadows from tree branches overhead. If they are not bathed in direct sunlight constantly, they just stop. They don't even have the momentum to carry them through a tiny shadow. The cars didn't work inside with a flashlight held over them. They ambled along slowly on my driveway, which is just a typical paved driveway. Maybe the teeny bumps bothered the wheels. They worked great on the very smooth road.

him and the kids has enjoyed playing with it around the house
Got for hubby, him and the kids has enjoyed playing with it around the house. Can wait to take it to the park to see how far it will go, limited space at home to play with it seeing how it's needs to be on realy flat groun. It's really small but douse what it says it will it's been lots of fun going to be buying more for strokings this Christmas I can think of a lot of family young and old that will enjoy this little car.

I would have liked more functionality
These silly cars go in the sunshine and stop abruptly when they drive out of the sun. They can go fast, but that is ALL they do. There are no controls etc. Just put them in direct sunlight and wait. If there is no sun you can leave them on window sill that gets sun. Then you will look for them since they will start going as soon as the sun comes up. All this is very entertained for the 51/2 year old that spends a lot of time at my house. I paid a low price and they were well worth, but if I have paid anymore, I would have liked more functionality.

Even with a broken tire, I love it.
Better packaging could have avoided mine arriving with a split rear tire, but until I lost that tire, it still performed well under bright sunlight. Now I can come up with some other solar-powered project to build around the still fully functional solar cell and electric motor. Just be aware that the cost of shipping is several times the cost of the item, and it may take literally months for it to arrive, as it did for me. If more reasonable shipping costs could be negotiated for a bulk order, this would be a great item for a science class at virtually any grade level.

Big hit!
At the beginning of Summer Vacation I give each one of my grandchildren a Summer Fun Kit. A paper/cloth grocery satchel filled with goodies . Keeping road trips in mind, I include coloring books, crayons, markers, pencils and blank paper. Paperbacks, age and gender specific. Disguised fun workbooks for math, science, history, etc and learning toys. The big hit this year were the solar cars. Most fun were car races, in particular a 13 yr. brother and his 8 yr old sister. Let's hear it for the Girls ! The price is great so buy a semi full ! You can't go wrong!

Cute and Tiny
Got this ad a trinket toy to throw in a stocking. I'm a purist and feel Santa should only deliver things the elves would make. :-) This is a cute toy, and a novel design, but it is TINY. Very, very small. I'd say the size of a quarter. I got a few, so it'll still be cute, but keep the size in mind when you order. Also shipped faster then expected.

Works but not a toy
This solar car really does move with direct light ! But it has to be direct light like bright sunlight or flashlight. So to shine flashlight on it to move 6" is not a toy but certainly neat to see.
