Easy to use and works just as described
This telephone is absolutely perfect for my very elderly dad. The amplification feature works extremely well and the quality of the sound is excellent. It is very easy to program telephone numbers for automatic dialing. My dad now has no problem hearing callers and we have no problem hearing him. With his previous telephone he kept inadvertently pressing buttons on the handset (it was a free portable telephone for the hearing impaired), which wreaked havoc for him and callers. This JaxFone is easy to use and there are no unnecessary buttons to accidentally press. We are all very, very happy with this wonderful telephone. It comes with an easy to understand instruction booklet.

96 Year Old Can Operate This Phone
My 96 year old mother-in-law is hard of hearing and struggled with our landline phone. Now, with this on speaker phone she can hold conversations without feedback from her hearing aid. The sound control is either high or low and that could be improved with a slider to offer more choices. But this phone is easy to use and I have put name stickers on the speed dial buttons so she can "dial" her own calls. Good product.

Bought for a 92 year old. The ringer volume hi and lo button only has 1 volume working…low….
The phone has large numbers and good volume when on the phone itself. It is for a 92 year old who needs a high volume phone. This part is working good. When I tried the volume switch it clicked into the low but when I tried to move the switch to high it does not click into high like it is supposed to. The ringer does not have the two volumes because the high on the switch is faulty and does not work. It’s disappointing because he needs a phone that rings very loud. Low is loud but I wanted to set it on high to ring the loudest. He is 92 and he lives alone with his dog and he needs a phone. I will try to contact the company. I did not find a phone number only an email address… I thought that was funny… I bought a phone from a company that has no phone number for contacting them… What?

Poor Volume
I bought this phone for my 98 yr old mother based on the description saying it had amplified volume. I found it to be totally lacking.

Had hoped that it would do what it said it would
Tried to buy a phone with an amplified handset that also had an amplified speakerphone feature. Really didn't care if it had big buttons, had stored numbers, and certainly didn't want an answering machine. Extra features just confuse my mom. The amplified handset works fine, but the speakerphone is a total waste of time. The later has a low volume that is not useful as a speakerphone. I find it surprising that I was unable to find a simple and compact corded phone to do the two tasks I wanted. Given that, I guess we'll keep the phone...but not happy

Simple to use, color w/black letters, ringer is loud, voice they hear is clear and understand
Purchased for my 93 year sister and 98 year brother in law. She has vision problems, hearing problems and so does he. She was misdialing numbers on their old phone and couldn’t hear. I did a lot of research and this phone was simple and the phone being white with black letters made it easy for her to see the numbers. It was a perfect phone for them and she certainly enjoys using. The phone received good ratings. Reviewing all the phones for hearing and sight impaired, this phone was the most simple without a lot of gadgets to confuse and was the BEST choice made for my sis and brother in law.

i was scared because of some of the bad reviews but decided to get it anyway and glad ...
do not listen to negative reviews on this phone, they are nto true. i was scared because of some of the bad reviews but decided to get it anyway and glad i did. purchased it as christmas present for my uncle who almost 80 yrs old, is extremely hard of hearing and his glasse are magnificed so much that they look like binoculars and this for him was a heaven sent, he could not hear me when i would call him and having trouble seeing the numbers on the phone to dial out, this was a danger in case of an emergency. got it for him and the ringer is piercing loud and numbers are very big, he is very happy and coming from him definitely recommends the produc. it arrived on time and exceeded our expectations. very happy customer.

Fault hand set and no hand set.
I purchased this for my mother. But the microphone on the handset was faulty and although she was talking I could not hear her. Having concluded that the unit was defective I set to return the product and got another one of the same model. The new one came and the handset in the new one was not in the box. Returned that one too.

Nobody can hear a word I say using the Spekerphone
Even when I lean my head over the phone and yell slowly into the speakerphone, the person on the other end of the call can only hear a few of the words I say. Sounds similar to a bad Cellphone connection. This phone is easy to use and light weight, with simple and visible buttons. But do NOT buy it for the speakerphone (as I did for my 90 year old mother that has trouble holding a handset. We set it up in her room in the nursing home, and while she can hear the incoming caller very well on the speaker, the built in microphone is obviously terrible. Whoever is on the other end of a speaker phonecall can only hear every 3rd or 4th word. We tested it over and over again. Finally bought a V-Tech Speakerphone for $7 more at a local walmart and can make crystal clear speakerphone calls

Worked great for my 99 year old mom & 85 year old Uncle
I purchased this originally for my mom who is presently 99 years old, and it works great. My cousins were so impressed that they requested I purchase it for their dad who is in his mid 80's, and they tell me they're VERY happy with it. Now their dad can hear them when they talk...no more yelling. I only took one star off because although it does what it says, I find that the overall feel / quality of the phone seems a bit cheap for the high price. It's a VERY light phone and has that "dollar-store" feel to it. Even the box was un-impressive. HOWEVER it does what it says and I'm happy I bought both of them.EDIT May/22: My uncle is presently having trouble hearing with this phone and people sometimes can't hear him. I'm hoping it's just the coiled phone cable, and will plan to replace it for him. Not sure if company offers any type of warranty, my guess is not really, but it will be an avenue I will pursue if need be.UPDATE Nov/22: My Uncle's phone is no longer working good. He says there's static so he cannot use it. My mom's phone on the other hand still works fine. These Phones are NOT really worth their pricetag, it's pretty much a roll of the dice if you get a good one or not. Try and find a better one, but it's VERY hard.

Didn’t work out for us; your mileage may vary.
Purchased this phone for my aging parents, and it didn’t work out as expected. This was partially due to my parents and partially due to the phone. The number buttons were nice and readable; that was great for my mother who has vision problems. However, there are 5 other buttons of the same size and shape with smaller lettering, so the non-numeric buttons were a problem. My mom wanted to use the “auto” button to dial the stored numbers, but had to try to find it by feel. Programming the stored numbers was easy for me to do for her use, however and I appreciated this. The phone is light enough that sometimes it will come along unintentionally with the receiver if you are not careful when you answer the phone. Attaching it to the wall was not possible in our case but would be highly recommended. And when my Mom grabbed the phone to keep it from moving, she would usually push the Speakerphone button, and having it in speakerphone mode confused her totally. Both of my parents never could understand the speakerphone concept, unfortunately. Not the phone’s fault. The sound quality is not great, but quite adequate. Understanding the conversation on either side of the call was not a problem. The listening volume in speakerphone mode seemed to be good when I tested it, but again, my parents never used speakerphone intentionally. The volume when using the handset was good initially, even in the lower volume setting, but after a week, the volume dropped to an unusable level even when the volume was set to the higher setting. (And no, I didn’t confuse it with the ringer volume, which is separate). I believe that this was a phone defect. After the issue started, I even thought there was no dial tone at all because the volume was so low, so it was not going to work for my parents who have worse hearing. And in regards to the ringer volume, the phone caused my mostly deaf parents to jump when it rang (horribly scary on the higher setting, and still quite jarring on the low ringer volume setting). And the ring tone itself is somewhat obnoxious but would likely be fine if the volume could be turned down sufficiently. The ringer speaker is under the phone and I tried putting the phone on a soft pad to absorb the sound but this still didn’t help enough to make it tolerable. The ring volume might be an advantage in some cases, but was a problem for them. It needs an third setting (low low) in my opinion. So I returned the phone as it was frustrating my parents in some regards, and not working at all in others. If the intended recipient wants to use it as a speaker phone, has better vision than my mom if use of the other buttons is desired, and doesn’t mind a very loud ring, it would be a fine phone.
