These are thinner. They are not sharp enough to use the sides like a razor to thin hair. I bought a whetstone so I am pretty sure if I sharpen them correctly, they will also work as thinning razors on each side. Strike that, it did not work. I am withholding a star because they look like Razorbacks with no functionality of Razorbacks. After sharpening I skinned up the finish and they just damage hair and skin up hair when closed and won't razor through it. For haircutting, they are plenty sharp and even more sharp now.These look like a very expensive set of shears for a fraction of the price, however, they will not blend a thing, they will only make split ends later. I have other purple dragon scissors and have been very pleased with them. I got fed up with trying to clean up bad haircuts with kitchen shears and sewing scissors. Now I do my family's hair myself and save us all some grief.These do come with a case. They cut hair well. They blend and thin nothing, however. Decorative notches and a case are not worth this price to me personally. Good Purple Dragon scissors, and better ones at that, look plain and cost between $18 and $27. The extra money this costs gets you a case and a non-functional design. But yeah, they will still get used to cut hair cause they are super sharp now! They look pretty, but I care nothing about that really. Even at $30, they are a good pair of scissors, loads better than many other brands. I feel bad about withholding a star, but if you won't blend and thin hair, you should not look like you can. It was deceptive to fake it. (Not that I would ever spend hundreds of dollars on actual Razorbacks or anything.) But you still get more than you pay for with these so I am torn about withholding a star. If you just want cool looking scissors, jump on them anyway.

What is worse? 1. No barber/hair salon for a few months or 2. A dull pair of scissors chewing my husband's hair.Answer - 2. My lack of adequately sharp scissors for the husband's hair definitely left a chewed look to an otherwise marginal hair cut attempt. Enter the PURPLE DRAGON shears and WOW! Yes I'm shouting! Hair that has gone from chewed, frayed ends now are smooth and precisely cut. The haircut is a total disaster, but the scissors are sharp & a delight to use. I'll be covering the mirrors with Saran Wrap to blur the truth to said husband.

I was tired of spending hundreds of dollars on shears that had to get sent in for sharpening A co-worker suggested that I order Purple Dragon shears about a year ago. I was skeptical because of how inexpensive they are. Now I own several pair and am unlikely to use another brand! They have so many to choose from.

These shears are easy to handle and very sharp. The weight of them for balanced cut are so comfortable. Just right. The best pair of shears I've ever used!.

Very sharp and light to use. Ideal for cutting hair. Since covid these are used all the time.The artificial jewel decoration is unnecessary and detracts from the quality of the scissors.
