I'm pretty artistic but when it comes to acrylic painting, I'm a newbie. Yrs ago I was gifted with something similar but never knew you needed to pretreat the canvas. This time around after reading up on it I bought the base along with this pack. Color variety is pretty good if you know how to mix to achieve the color you want, so mixability is good! Value for the money, especially when you're a newbie coming in with a different medium than you're used to is amazing! Paint quality, only negative feedback I have is even though I do a very small amount & build as I need, it dries out quickly on the palate- so I suggest use it sparingly vs putting a big amount!

This is ok as a beginner's kit or a kid's play kit. Note that I had to sand it as the wood was rough and splinters were all over. I then stained it. The palette had paint stains on back and the knives set packing was open.That being said, it has 6 flat canvas 2 of each size. The paint set is nice with variety of colors. Colors are not bright. The paint brushes are dollar quality, but do the job. The palette knives have a good size variation. Quality ok for the price.I would suggest you inspect before gifting. Otherwise, good for tweens and teens.
