Q: Will this work on just the watch, without constant connection to the iphone?

The AURA Strap 2 was designed to work together with the Apple Watch and the iPhone App. Nothing will happen if your iPhone is not close to the AURA Strap, but while measuring we recommended having the Apple Watch connected to the iPhone via Bluetooth. Strap 2 uses a BLE 4.2+ interface to transfer measurement data. Data transferred between devices is encrypted. The reliability of Bluetooth reduces the number of unsuccessful measurements by 99.99% and allows users to take measurements in any environment.
