Great for DIY...but definitely not waterproof. lol
This is great for DIY projects. It's cheap (affordable) for a reason. The initial rewire to put it all into an old toy boat for my kid was fairly easy. Simple. Straightforward. To get the antenna range it is capable of, I had to do a little bit of research into the correct positioning for a 2.4ghz receiver antenna. I also pulled the controller open and used a soldering iron to remove buttons in the controller that were not needed for the boat. The boat ran perfectly. Then? A couple of my son's younger friends SANK the boat...and put the controller in the bottom of the pool as well. The electronics are not waterproof. So....I'll be buying a second one soon. :-)

NOT A GOOD BUY
I was very existed trying to make a rc for the first time and was met with disappointment. The receiver was not fully soldered on, I had to add my own solder because the led was wiggling and about to fall out of the holes on the board. The controller and receiver would also not connect their was barely any information to google about the receiver to see if there was any special things needed to be done. Over all I had to return it because I could not get it to work.

Good value for the price
For the most part it preformed as hoped. Perfect for a tracked vehicle. The only reason I took a star away was because one motor will not drive reverse. When I look at what similar units go for, at $16 I really can't be to hard on them. Overall, I'm pleased.

8 channels is a great thing.
I have a remote control car that I made. I used this transmitter and receiver to connect to motor controllers which allow the car to turn left or right. I found it easy to figure out what channel matched what wire with a volt meter. My car runs great and can accept multiple signals at the same time with this transmitter at the same time. I recommend this to a hobbyist that wants 8 channels with a 3volt receiver. I ended up using a step down buck module that turned 12volts into the correct voltage not to fry this device as the voltage it needs a lower amount.

Ok for the money.
I created a remote control rose prop for my production of Beauty and the Beast, the musical. I originally was going to use a much nicer receiver and transmitter, but I only needed 4 channels. So I ended up using this one. The first remote I received did not connect with the transmitter. I had a replacement sent and it worked immediately. I figured for the price, even if I have to replace this thing, it was worth it.

Reliability was a problem
The TX/RX set was not reliable. It was working for awhile and then stopped. I had to replace the RX/TX with the nRF24L01 radios.

Just what I was looking for
I wanted to automate my Lego technic car and this was the cheapest and perfectly engineered radio controlled circuit I was looking for.
