What you need to now is that there is no clock built into this timer. It is very easy to use. Decide when you want it to come on, and set it at that time. If you want it to water for 15 minutes every day at 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., then insert the two batteries beforehand. At 6:00 p.m., turn the left dial to frequency (12 hours), and the right dial to 15 minutes. It will not turn on at that time. IT WILL TURN ON IN 12 HOURS, AT 6:00 A.M. AND EVERY 12 HOURS THEREAFTER. If you interrupt the cycle at any point during that 12 hours, you will need to again re-program it AT 6:00 P.M. OR 6:00 A.M. This confuses everyone. No clock, so you program exactly when you want it to start and then wait for the next cycle. I hope this helps. It is really a piece of junk and won't last long. All this being said, IF the manufacturer of the device says you CAN use lithium batteries, then you can do so. If not, I would not use lithium batteries. **Q: Is there a way to find and fix the internal leak?** A: Not sure where your leak is. But make sure the seals for the timer and hose attached are still there. It will leak without them. **Q: Where is this made?** A: Where else - China. I asked if I could get a replacement instead, and they sent one out right away. Within two days I had a new timer and am once again really happy with how it’s working for me. 5+ stars for customer service, and the timer really is a nice one.I originally really loved this timer, it worked great and did exactly what I needed it to. However, after 5 months it stopped working. I was hoping it just needed new batteries, but it was completely dead. There is no warranty information anywhere on either amazons site or the manufacturers site. It worked fine while I was away for two weeks - at least, the plants looked as if they'd been watered. I have no idea how many days it actually functioned, but whatever it had done was enough.When I returned from my trip I took it off the hose, took the batteries out, and packed it away in a temperature-controlled storage unit for the rest of the year. I have just taken it out of storage with plans to re-install it on my drip system only to find it no longer functions. I have used three different sets of batteries, but the unit simply does not power on. It appears that the wires are still connected to the battery posts (my first thought was that a wire had come loose).It's a shame, really, as I only was able to use it for two weeks. It definitely did what I needed for it to do for those two weeks. I would ask the vendor for a replacement, but doubt they'd provide one after this long of a time.EDIT: Excellent customer service. The vendor responded to my review and sent a replacement unit. It's been raining cats-and-dogs here since it arrived so I have not been able to see if this one is working, but will place it in the garden at my earliest convenience (and inside a plastic bag to hopefully help keep it dry). So they are dying off. So instead I have now bought soaker hose rings (will keep the donuts there to keep down grass around the trees) and attached this water timer. So far it seems solid. It definitely works — I tested it as per the instructions.I think some people just don’t read instructions. Notice it won’t cycle water ON until the END of the first interval you set.ANYWAY, crossing fingers let’s see how it goes.Yeah I plan to bury the hose an inch into the ground so my robot lawnmower doesn’t have an issue.Edit: update Dec 30, 2022.
