The Only Design Book You'll Ever Need
This is the best interior design book we've ever bought. Since reading it, we feel well-equipped to spend our money wisely while decorating our apartment.Magidson's writing style is warm, semi-casual, and thoughtful; reading her book feels like talking to an old family friend who just so happens to be a brilliant decorator. The "recipe" images in the book are ideal for envisioning what type of pieces would look best where, plus the "recipes" for each type of room are adjustable to any size or space! Whether you live in a cramped studio or a sprawling house, there are plenty of "recipes" to add balance and homeyness to your space. I've added pictures to this review so you can see what I mean. There's emphasis on conscious consumption and home accessibility for those with physical and/or mental disabilities, which I appreciate. I haven't read many interior design books that touch on these topics at all, but I love how Magidson makes sustainable and accessible home design easy to understand and implement. The best part of this book (beyond the "recipes") is the section on habits. Magidson advises you to think about the most important habits of your day-to-day life and prioritize designing your home to best accommodate those habits. For example, if you always have morning coffee with your spouse, prioritize making a cozy coffee nook! Or perhaps you're an introvert who likes to curl up with a book every night? Don't buy furniture to accommodate 8+ people for parties you'll never have; focus on building "cozy corners" for you to unwind and recharge in.Buy this book. For the price, it's practically a steal for how much decorating wisdom you'll glean from it.

Easy Solutions To Making Your Home Look Amazing
For disclosure...I'm a huge fan of Ariel on Tik Tok and Instagram I love the near daily advice on simple solutions to design. I also love that she is an industry disrupter trying to get the message out that design shouldn't just be for the privileged. I also love the emphasis on not contributing to our throw away economy so many items in a house can be repurposed, repainted or just placed in a new location to give them more life.So I was first in line when the book was announced. I've spent that last week pouring over this wonderful book, it's very easy to follow Ariel lays out the book like a "cookbook".This is a must for everyone that wants to lay out their home in the most welcoming way or understand why some spaces just bother us when we look at them. (I love little tidbits like we humans feel more comfortable looking at odd numbered objects i.e. an odd number of family photos or pictures or throw pillows)Every possible space is covered from the obvious living room, bedroom to ignored corners in a house.I'm sure your copy will become as dog eared as mine as you look for design ideas.

Recipes to be followed exactly on how to design rooms
Most of the book is about "recipes" to follow exactly on how to design rooms, put a mirror exactly here in the entryway (why you even need a mirror in the entryway I have no idea), a bench here, a storage basket here, for all rooms. To lay them out exactly like she would. It's way too cookie cutter for me. I was looking more for general broad principles on interior decorating. I was looking for something more like "tomatoes go well with these foods ..." than an exact recipe for lasagna. Admittedly this analogy is flawed as I find recipes very useful when it comes to food, but am not at all keen on this approach to design/decorating, but the author calls the approach "recipes" so I'm using that term.I didn't realize this book would be like that from reading the free pages of the book an Amazon as the first 50 or so pages are more general and the only part I found useful. But I don't think they are really useful enough to justify the purchase themselves. I also rent rather than own and that might be another reason I'm not the ideal reader for this book, as I can't modify everything. I guess I just wanted some "apartment therapy" and some broad principles to guide it.
