J-B Weld 8258 KwikWood Wood Repair Epoxy Putty Stick-7 inch, Beige

Works like an absolute charm! Used this to fill in latch holes in doors that were way too big. This putty was so easy to work with. Rolled it up, shoved it into the hole, and after an hour in was solid and ready to drill and chisel. Even a rather large chunk solidified as expected. Probably could have used extra curing because it was so thick. The middle was just a touch soft, which gummed up the drill bit a little. Didn't stop me, though, and it didn't seem to hurt anything. Absolutely elated with how this product turned out! I will say the putty is a bit thick, so it's useful for larger gaps. I would not be able to work this into smaller cracks or holes. But there's plenty of other products for those cases.

Very easy to give a shape and it cures really well. After cured, it becomes rock solid. I am really satisfied!

If you take the time to prep the surface properly and use a power sander for the finish work, the results look seamless and last.

I had to repair a loose Japanese Wa knife handle that I epoxied back in place. Whoever made the handle put a round hole in the handle where the blade fits and I used this JB wood epoxy to fill the voids around the knife blade. Mixing is easy (wear nitrile or latex gloves), it gets very hard when totally set up, it has a putty like consistency that is fairly thick. It is very light colored, like unfinished white pine. I tried mixing this product with several types of stain including oil base and gel wood stains and they would not mix with this epoxy putty. I filled the voids and let them dry and tried the wood stain again and it would not work. This epoxy has zero porosity for oil or gel stain. In my shop, I had a small vial of black epoxy color that I applied with a small artists brush to the light colored epoxy and that worked pretty well. This wood epoxy is 5 stars if you are applying paint over it but staining without epoxy specific was not possible for me.

Another great JB weld product! So my son came through the garage with a weight bar not realizing the door right across was closed....I didn't want to replace the whole door, so I gave this a try. I pulled the door, screwed in some screws in the hole for structure, and filled the space with this putty. I put wax paper over it and rolled it flat with a rolling pin...use what you have I say! After it dried it was completely solid. I sanded it until it was flat all around. Because it's a wood filler it did leave a little texture on my flat door, I patched over it with a dap filler (the pink one...aslo bought from Amazon). It came out very smooth. After painting it, you can hardly tell. I have to look at it from the side to even find the repair. The filler dried hard, it looked like there was never any damage. I have even knocked on the space and it's completely solid. It's actually harder than the rest of the door. It's been over a year, and there has been zero shrinkage. I also used it on a shelf I bought clearanced because of damage. Similar procedure....I drilled holes and added toothpicks with some wood glue for structure. Once it dried, I cut the toothpicks level to the height of the rim. Then, I molded the jb weld around the space, sanded it, and stained it. There's a lot of stuff out there to fill a space, but with this stuff you can completely recreate. I have saved hundreds of dollars using this product...way worth the money!

Mix according to directions and apply it worked on a top deck rail that was 3/8 of an inch from the post filled in with this overnight harden like a rock great product!

Very hard to work with if geometry is a factor. But good for reliable patch jobs where the pale cool neutral expoxy gets you within the optical range. It's very dry and clings to your glove or tool or razor. You need to lube whatever the tool is. I used it to cinch up a slightly worn maple nut slot.. not really a dimensional change just making the slot hold on to the nut tighter. Basically just smear a few snow pea sized pieces along the intended areas with a flat razor. But don't tool and fingertips with something like Vaseline or mineral oil, otherwise, you know adhesives work, they'll always preferentially grab on to whatever surface it's NOT supposed to go on. Chemistry, texture.. doesn't doesn't matter what any competing surface is in a given situation, adhesive knows what you're trying to do Good for small chips in maple.. for natural maple color tones, with or without a little amber tint, as with a guitar neck. For an un-tinted maple neck, sealing the top of the pale KwikWood with Starbond Medium CA in the light brown gives it a really pale honey cast, so it all but disappears. After that, you might give the whole piece a mist coat of Mohawk Yellow Tone-up. Other cases, fine maple flour sawdust in amber or clear glue etc

It came out a lot lighter than it appeared to be on the listing and what it said it was on the listing. It was a very light beige or even a cream color. By the time I found that it wasn't going to get any darker (because I was hoping it would change as it dried or something) it was too dry to take off. Now I have to find some special chemical to take it off with. It dried pretty quickly for putty. Everything else seems to be true about the product. If it was the right color, I could easily sand it out to smooth it. It was slightly annoying to put on over the gouges and scratches I was trying to fill in over my wooden silverware drawer. It didn't want to stay where I put it. But after a bit of fiddling with it, I got it where I wanted it.

Really easy to use. Had a great furniture that cracked during moving time. The weld filled in and dry beautifully and my son finished with paints. From a distance you would never notice.

This product has been awsome in my wooden boat. Can be used everywhere, is sandable, stainable and is as strong as existing wood. I will be purchasing more.

As described. I mistakenly broke one of my Ikea wardrobe pieces knowing how much fragile Ikea wood is. Used this product to fix it and it did exactly what it supposed to do. Fixed it in less an hour.

I broke the shelf of my TV cabinet during assembly. The screw holding the shelf broke, and took with it a chunk of the MDF board. I did a youtube search and decided to order this kwikwood. I followed the instructions on the box. The putty was easy to mix and apply. One hour later after application, it got rock hard, and was easy to sand down and paint. My Tv cabinet now looks like brand new! Definitely worth it
