Solid authentic kukri with quality accessories
I ordered this kukri and have been very pleased with it overall. This is my first experience with an authentic Nepalese kukri, so I cannot compare it to other handmade versions, but the craftsmanship is impressive for the price point.The blade itself is full tang and feels sturdy in the hand. I have mainly used it for clearing brush and overgrowth in my backyard, and it handles that task well. The blade came coated in oil and wrapped in plastic, which kept everything protected during shipping. Removing the wrapping was a bit of a hassle and messy, but I would rather deal with that than receive a blade that has been exposed to moisture during transit.One thing I appreciated was that this came as a complete set. The sheath is well made and holds everything securely. It also includes two smaller accessories: a small knife (known as a karda) and a sharpening steel (called a chakmak). Having the sharpening steel included is a nice touch since it means you can maintain the edge without needing to purchase separate tools right away.If you are looking for a genuine handmade kukri from Nepal rather than a mass produced replica, this seems like a good option. Just be prepared to clean off the protective oil coating when it arrives. I would recommend this to anyone who needs a capable outdoor or yard work blade and wants something with authentic craftsmanship behind it.
