I feel duped…
The media could not be loaded. …and I got this watch for ‘free’! I don’t think it’s even worth the tax bill it will cost me. Read on to find out why. This is one of the higher priced watches in the Citizen Disney collection at time of writing the review. Nearly $100 more than most of the others which have more features such as tachometer, chronograph and second hands. So what is it about this particular style that warrants the higher price? If it were a numbered limited edition, then I could understand, but it isn’t. This watch has less features than an old ‘el cheapo’ brand I had back in the 1980’s.Citizen boasts about its Eco-drive system and how sunlight powers a special cell that can power the watch for over 200 days. Closer reading of the instruction manual states that the watch needs about 9 hours of sunlight to charge the cell and long sleeved clothing will block the ability of the watch being able to recharge. Well, my old el cheapo from the 1980’s used kinetic motion to wind up the watch. Same idea, without the need for any form of electronics and no need to sit the watch out in the sun for most of the day. I feel that was a better system than this. The marketing photos make it look like the watch face glows really brightly. But it needs prolonged exposure to sunlight for that to be the case. Good luck reading the time at night! The light sensitive luminous material used on the watch face isn’t overly bright. The good news is it’s not radioactive like the old photosensitive material used (probably in my old el cheapo), the fact that none of this material was used on the watch hands, baffles me. You can’t see the hands in the dark at all, rendering the Watch useless after dark. In fact, you can’t really see the hands in the daytime either for that matter, they just blend into the background. This watch does have a date window. You will need to use the magnifier on your phone to be able to read it. Or you could just read the date and time on your phone and save yourself the hassle. There is no instruction manual in the box, just a leaflet telling you to download an app to register your watch and view the instructions. Yep, they made a pointless app for you to download, and likely only ever use once. The instructions are minimal and simply cover the obvious functions on how to use a watch like this. I mean really, it’s common knowledge you adjust the date and time by pulling the crown out one or two stops and then turn the crown to adjust the date or time. They want you to download an app to explain that to you. What the instructions don’t tell you, is how to remove links from the bracelet. They also don’t supply you with the small tool to do this. A watch of this price should come with that tool.Side note… My case and leaflet that were inside the box looked like someone had sneezed on it… gross!

Citizen Quality Hard To Beat
This is a typical Citizen Eco-Drive watch with good build quality, extremely accurate time keeping and a whimsical theme. For those negative reviews mentioning concern about long sleeves blocking the charging capability of the watch, that really is not an issue. That viewpoint is from someone unfamiliar with Citizen Eco-Drive watches. Once the watch gets fully charged by exposing it to any light (it will charge from any ambient light while just sitting on your dresser or nightstand), there's enough energy reserve that wearing long sleeves has no impact on the watch's ability to keep time. Just don't store this watch in a closed drawer or box for an extended period of time (but if you do, you can bring it back to life by simply exposing it to light for a period of time).I own seven Citizen Eco-Drive watches (three are Disney/Mickey Mouse themed) and the time keeping accuracy is excellent. I do own other brands of watches but I believe the Citizen Eco-Drive line gives you the best value for the price. Just shop around and you will be surprised how little you can pay sometimes for one.

You're Paying for the Name
There are basically four kinds of mid to high end watches - kinetic, manual, wind, quartz, and solar. This is a solar. It has a battery but it can recharge with light. This watch is priced in the mid-range segment. The problem is, the quality of it falls in the very lower end of that range. When you pick it up, it feels okay, but it's light weight. It lacks the heft of the really good watches in this segment. There is no seconds hand, chrono, or any other optional feature. You are paying a premium for two reasons - One - this is an eco-drive. That always grabs more money than a conventional watch. Two - this is a Mickey Mouse watch..The drawback of this being a Mickey Mouse watch is that it's not the classic "Mickey Hands" (where the hour and minutes are tracked by his hands) watch. This does have a glow feature which is really nice. The white parts glow green after exposed to light. This gives it a much needed whimsy, that is absent in most other watches.Basically - if you want a high end Mickey Mouse watch, this is a good option. For everyone else, this is not a good value.I think the biggest comparison I can make, is that the average Invicta watch, is much higher quality than this one.If they had used better materials, this would be a four or five star value, for Mickey Mouse fans.

Fantastic timepiece
As a collector of various other Citizen timepieces, i can absolutely say this is the brand to stick to. The quality is always top notch, and there is never a point in which that can or will be doubted. As long as a bit of sunlight hits your wrists every so often, the battery is essentially unable to run out. Who can have any qualms with the visual of our classic favorite Mickey as well right on the face. Even with the metallic finish , there won't be any noticeable excess weight added to your wrists and instead it just feels comfortable to wear. Even as a person with bigger hands and etc, I do feel this is appropriately sized and looks great for day to day wear.
