Definitely nice to have in the tool box
So far this thing has worked flawlessly. The iron heats up pretty quick and does a good job of melting the plastic. The variety of plastic ribbons is nice also. The cost of this kit has already paid for it's self with the amount of money it has saved me. This kit provides a piece of mind knowing that a broken item is no longer automatically headed to the trash and has to be replaced.

Finally a Fix!!!
How did I not know about plastic welding before this?!!! This kit wored like a champ. You can see the cracks in my jet ski dock in the first picture. After watching videos on YouTube I definitely decided to use the stainless steel mesh that comes in the kit. Because my jet ski dock is HDPE plastic, I did order separate HDPE welding rods since those are not included in this kit. But I had everything else I needed and the result was simply fantastic! I think I finally have a solution to stop my jet ski dock from leaking. By the way, I did find it very handy that this kit came with multiple welding heads because I needed to use the smaller one to fit in to corners and tight spaces.

Great for plastic welding and soldering thicker wires.
PROS: - Amazing value!! I use the flat triangle for plastic welding and the point bit for soldering thicker wires. - ON / OFF switch and light - so you know it is on and has power. CONS: On larger projects like a trash bin, car bumper etc. You need a lot more power - so in these situations I use a hairdryer style heat gun to preheat the plastic and then used the iron. Also, outside in a breeze it is hard to get the plastic hot enough. Also, it starts melting but the plastic will quickly draw the heat off the iron requireing time to get hot again - not the fault of the iron but on smaller projects not a problem.

it's not as easy as looks!
when I first turned it on, the iron was smoking a bit for about 5-7 minutes and turned from silver to brown/burnt. This kinda spooked me as I thought something was going wrong. So I was very careful with it - you know like I'm thinking electrocution. Then I saw a customer video where their iron was all brown and so I just let it finish smoking. I like the way you connect the bits - with the big screw. easy, and flexible. Saw on youtube people making their own bits from nails or other metal objects. I like that there are two different sets of bits, a triangle and a needle type. My first time using today, I used both to fix up some plastic parts. I liked the cardboard box that the entire kit came in. It's the perfect size for the kit. The box is slim, and yet all the parts fit into it without having to cram it in. The little screwdriver was PERFECT. It fits in the box no problem, and it's reversible - it has both a flathead and philips, plus it feels just right for the job. I actually ended up using it later when I was patching up my shed... it's not the ideal screwdriver for what I was doing with the shed, but it was AVAILABLE, and it worked great and saved me a few minutes having to go look for a screwdriver. The MATERIALS are so good! the screen mesh, and the aluminum tape... I used those for fixing a big tub/bucket. The spare plastic... appreciated! I am not going to be using this kit very much and am very happy that I didn't have to go shop and pay for the materials. First I tried to fix a rubber sandal that my puppy chewed up. NO GOOD. I think it's bc it was rubber, and not plastic. Then I fixed a large bucket/tub that had a rip at the bottom. It's not as easy as it looks on youtube but you get better quickly as you go along. Then I used the needle tip bit to reinforce some plastic bolts with staples... heated/melted the staples into the bolts and took me a couple hours to do 6-7 of them but I feel better now that the bolts are re-enforced. They are bolts to a plastic shed. Overall, got the job done, and now I've added another tool to the kit. NICE!

How did I not know this was a thing?
I was pondering how to fix the broken plastic bumper on my Tacoma - it occurred to me that maybe I could melt the pieces back together? Would that work? Googled and found out that plastic welding is indeed a thing- and it works great. I repaired my bumper, and have also repaired many other broken plastic things. So much better and stronger than any glue. Just make sure to do it in a well ventilated area, as the plastic on the tip will burn and smoke.

Used a few times. Very satisfied so far. A few words of caution--
This thing is great. Definitely seems better using the mesh and filler vs a hot stapler. The mesh seems really strong and is flexible enough to flow into curves. A few words of advise: 1. I found that using a thinly gloved hand on the opposite side of the plastic while melting is an excellent way to ensure the other side isn't getting too hot and risking melting through. 2. Don't push too hard, let the heat do the work. I bent the small tip on mine because I was forcing the mesh into a bit too much of a curve than i should have. If I did it again I would have cut the mesh to better take the curve of the plastic. 3. Don't leave it on very long. It doesn't seem to have any thermostat, which is fine so long as you mind it. It gets hot quick, so you dont need to let it warm up very long. I expect a lot of the people experiencing problems with it burning up have not been cautious of this. If the device isn't pumping the heat into the plastic it will overheat and probably burn itself out pretty quick. They have a nice little button and light built right in. 4. Working the mesh into the melted plastic with a waddling or walking method works great.

Good selection of plastic rods, adequate welding device.
A nice set of plastering rods and adequate welder with an on off switch. I wish the labeling on some of the plastic rods had bend complete. A variable temperature soulf have made it more useful to cover a wide variety of plastics. The stand to hold the welder was a bit flimsy, but it isnโt a crucial part. I wish they had included a pouch with narrow pockets for each plastic type to improve organization. Overall a good value,

This is a nice product!
This is my second welding kit that I got and it is amazing! I got it to complement another welder that I got because this one does a bit better job when welding plastic strips! I used it to repair my green and blue bins and honestly this saves so much money on those! Plus, in a way, contributes to less plastic stuff to be thrown away if you can repair it. Love the idea and love the way it works! Recommend if you need it!

Great intro kit
A great get started kit already used to patch a few errant drill holes. Soldering iron burns something off when you first start it and gets red hot in the middle so if you get serious you might want to look at the next level of quality. Perfect for my needs but Iโm being a little more careful than normal.
