AmamaxWall Adapter Power Supply - 12VDC 1A, 5.5mm - 2.1mm UL Listed (Pack of 5)

Purchased 8/10/19. I bought 3 of these to replace my 3 Homber aquarium light transformer plugs. The ones that came from Homeber were not UL listed and 5 of them have failed. The company kept sending me replacements because of the 2 year warranty but now the Homeber aquarium light is not listed anymore on Amazon. I love these lights so I decided to give these transformer plugs a try to see if it's just faulty plugs or faulty lights taking out the plugs. I have 3 Marineland lights that are still working since 8/6/13 and I never had a problem with them. So I'm hoping this Amamax transformer plugs /Homeber aquarium light combination works for a good long time just like my Marineland lights. I will update this review soon if something fails but much later if it is working well. So for now, no news means good news. I figured a lot of others went through the same issues with the Homeber aquarium lights as I did and I hope this helps people, especially those that are in my situation.

I've bought a few of these to have some decent 12v power supplies around the shop. A couple are running Odroid HomeCloud 2 NAS devices just fine - with 4tb drives on them, one is running an old 7" 24v server rack fan at half voltage/half speed to ventilate a crawl space, and other sundry uses. They seem pretty good, don't waste power, don't get hot at least the way I'm using them. As an off grid solar guy, efficiency matters and these are decent compared to some other options out there.

This adapter is thin and delivers the power I need without getting hot. When purchasing an AC adapter it is best to purchase more current than you think you will need. Consider the manufacturers current rating as the absolute maximum, but not the current you would normally run it at. Think of it like an auto manufacturers engine horse power rating. You might get a maximum of 200HP from an engine with the gas pedal pushed all the way to the floor, but you can't drive your car like that 100% of the time and expect the engine/transmission to last a long time. It's the same principle with power adapters. I usually derate by 50% so that the normal current delivered by this adapter is 1A with a 2A surge when needed. Also, the output voltage of a power supply should be measured when attached to a load. Without a load, a volt meter may give a reading that is much higher or much lower than the rated output voltage. For inexpensive power supplies like this, it is not unusual for the output voltage under load to vary as much is +- 5% of the nominal manufacturers specification of 12V. So don't be surprised if you see between 11.4V and 12.6V out of this adapter. Well designed electronic equipment that accepts 12V will compensate for this variance and work without problems. The supply worked great for me.

These were exactly what I was looking for in the configuration of the 120 vac connection on a wall receptacle. Most wall power supplies will hang down or up using one receptacle of the two to plug in and blocking the other to make it inaccessible to plug anything else in. These units have the same output voltage and amperage as the units that came with my equipment, but allow the unit to plug in going right or left and leaving room to use both outlets on a duplex wall receptacle. (two power supplies may be plugged in side by side with no problem). I am pleased with the product and the versatility of the configuration of design makes it more useful.I would recommend this item to others.

I needed a new wall wart for a network appliance. This fit the bill perfectly, and it cost significantly less than the OEM replacement part. I checked the output with a multimeter, and it's very stable, even under load. It's definitely larger than the older one, but that's hardly a consideration for my application.DO NOTE, if you are looking to replace a 12V DC power adapter, make sure it is rated for at least as much current as the old one--ex. a 12V 6A power adapter will work for an appliance that needs 3A, but not the other way around.

I bought this to replace the failed power supply for the LED light on my  Aqueon LED MiniBow Aquarium Starter Kit with LED Lighting, 5 Gallon, Black . It works without any problem and really my only complaint is that it doesn't have an inline switch like the original. In any case, the price was reasonable and the unit is UL listed, which adds some piece of mind

Works well, several days in to using the supply. I used it to replace the supply on my Tivo Roamio 12VDC 2Amp. And out works well. Before this the TiVo could not get enough power and was constantly rebooting and flashing lights on either side.

I had the unfortunate experience of a lightning strike taking out my router's power supply. I have a Linksys EA3500 router. This adapter stands in perfectly for the provided CAD2412 (or CA2412C, depending on which model number you read). No issues as of yet and to be honest, it looks almost like the last one.Only downside is that the adapter is slightly larger. Depending on how you are plugging it in, you might lose an outlet.
