Silence mode how to set up? Pressing test button gives me alarm. What's the point then?

I don't think there is a set up procedure for silent mode. I think that after testing, when the alarm stops, the unit goes into silent mode for 5 minutes to reset itself and then starts monitoring again.

I bought one of these about a month ago. I don't have the box anymore, but the printing on the unit says replace by 09/2034.

Can this be used outdoors for my patio heater ?

I wouldn't think so as if it's outdoors, any carbon monoxide would just disperse harmlessly in the air. It's only dangerous indoors.
