Works perfectly.
I have a wire running through my house for the "smart home panel" that came with it, which is really just an entry point for a subscription model for alarm.com to provide nothing of meaningful value.Anyways, on one side is a 7v DC adapter, a 50 foot long wire through the attic, into their panel. I soldered in the wire thata there on the input and a USB-C pigtail to the output and now have a cheap Chinese tablet running home assistant as my panel. Works great! So far have had no issues with heat or voltage out - constant steady 5 volts. And now I have 4 extras so I can do some additional fun stuff. Win-win.

Great little buck converter
I make a lot of microcontroller devices that need a 5V power supply. I like to use a 9V plug and this steps down the power to a solid 5V. After being powered on for several hours, it is still cool and doesn't require any kind of heat sink or fan. I've enjoyed using them instead of other options I have used in the past. I really like the small size and simple use.

Soldering needed, worked great off 12v 5a
Hooked up to a 12v 5a source to run an esp32 and worked great, used it for a few months for that and it was solid the whole time. Had to solder pins on but the chip functioned perfectly

Works perfect
Iโve used these before, and they work great. Thereโs one thing about these, that you may be curious about, if you havenโt used one before, the ground is common on the-input and -output sides. What that means is if you power it with a +12v input, you can use both the +12 and +5 on same circuit, if needed and the ground line will be common to both voltages. You have to remember though that the MP1584EN has a Max rating of only 3Amp. Even if you use a 12v 5Amp power supply to power it, you wonโt be able to get the full 5Amp out on 5v line. You may even need to add on a small heatsink on top of the MP1584EN to handle the 1.8Amp that description shows. I use one of the small stick on heatsinks, that are used on stepper motor driver ICs. Stick the heatsink on top of the square chip, not on the bigger square inductor. All five of the ones I received, were right on 5.1V output. Thatโs within tolerance for 5V circuits. Very good buy, here.

2 out of 5 boards were duds
One was dead out of the box and of the remaining four, one blew up after a month of use. These are connected to 12v batteries in the field and used to power an Arduino interfaced to the equipment, so not a lot of draw or bad input power. Next time Iโm going to stick with the trusted and true LM7805 type of regulator

Nice little regulators, inconsistent quality
These came in a stick of 5 with the board scored between them, but it was easy to break off individual units.I had the magic smoke come out of one of them, but I replaced it with one of the others and it is powering my Teensy + LCD project just fine.

Pleasantly surprised. Small footprint, steady output
Pleasantly surprised by these little boards. I tested a couple before attaching one to a real device, and it was a rock solid 5.00v output. Very happy with these

Quality Components
Quite happy with these. They seem to have a thermal protection feature as well. I overloaded one a bit and it got to north of 60ยฐ C before shutting itself off and recovering. Saved me from resoldering a new one!
