Not heat treated, softer carbon steel.Tried removing a broken bolt on lawn mower deck.Five threads deep on the extractor it just keeps turningand it's threads are mashed down from soft carbon steel.Went with a much cheaper set that has the dill bit on theother end of the extractor and within a 1/8th turn the brokenbolt came right out. You can clearly see in the pic the brokenbolt isn't rust seized. At best this set would be good for softcopper/brass piping.Would not recommend purchase to a friend or family member. Will keep in my plumbing/air fitting "first aid kit".This batch of screw extractors clearly did not get heat treated.A hole was pre-drilled into the broken bolt or I would not have beenable to get 5 threads deep on the extractor. No, I didn't use a screwgun,I only used a crescent brand wrench to turn the BESTIRTOOL extractor.Screw Extractor Set, 8PCS Damaged Screw Broken Bolt Water Pipe Remover Set, Tool Box for Home, Renovation, Automotive Mechanics, Carpenters and Construction Workers(Drill Bits Not Included)

Removed broken pipe like a charm
Bought this as I needed something to remove the broken off end of the pipe from my shower head that was stuck in the wall. Couldn't have worked better for that application. Thread it in and just keep turning. Takes a few turns to "catch" and then the broken pipe reversed right out in one piece. Packaging leaves something to be desired but I'm more interested in the functionality.

I purchased this kit specifically because it said it would extract a 1" pipe. It will not . The largest extractor is meant for a 3/4" pioe nipple . This cost us extra days waiting for a product that was miswritten for its description .Fast shipping .. Just not accurate selling

I would recommend this tool to every mechanic I know
With this tool I was able to save an expensive aluminum head off a racing engine that had a anodized pipe nipple broken off inside the head. The tool gripped the broken item with its reversed style grooves and the defective (broken) fitting unscrewed with no damage. I would recommend this tool to every mechanic I know. The item performed above my expectations!
