Momento Mori
I had this movie from online a long time ago so I knew what I was getting when I decided to purchase it. However I wasn't expecting the DVD quality to blow away the online versions I had. If you have watched this online or anywhere else you might want to consider getting the DVD. The story is very interesting, its not an action packed horror but a very good solid story with minimal blood and decapitations, characters that all have distinct personalities and bring the school a live. Its an amazing movie that defines my taste for Korean horror. Although I can't choose which of the Whispering Corridors movie is my favorite I do have to say that this one like all of them (excluding 5) is very memorable and will probably have you thinking well after the movie finishes. Its the classic Whispering Corridors story at an all girls school, with solid story, minimal gore and great actors/actresses.

"Read any good books lately?"
At no time did this feel like a horror movie. Surreal, yes, horror no, in spite of the few vain attempts to inject some last minute frights (which only added to the peculiar nature of the story). The plot features the doomed relationship of two students in an all girl high school. A shared diary they make falls into the hands of another student who reads it. The girls in this school, on the whole, are a disparate lot. They are depicted as petty, mean spirited, vain, and thoroughly snotty. I wasn't surprised when a couple of teachers slapped the faces of two students (something that would normally get one fired!). The story unravels slowly, in a nonlinear fashion. Time is not an issue; it bounces all over the place, going every which way. This does nothing to consolidate the story. However, if confusion was the filmmakers' aim then they surely succeeded. The camera work is exceptional; there are a couple of startling images. All of the acting is on the same level (if you enjoy watching screeching teens). It's a raucous vision of teen angst and the aftermath of ruination. I didn't particularly enjoy watching it but it did hold my interest throughout. I just have no intention of ever watching it again. Not a keeper.

adult drama disguised as high school horror
The second in the trilogy. (Which has expanded to include Voice and Witch Board). This film is an excellent portrayal of love at the adolescent level. Confused, intense, guilt ridden, and of course paranormal, all staples of Asian horror film. Everything is done on a professional level, erotic hinted scenes included. Two girls are deeply in love. They shun the society of the High School, though are bot a successful part of it. The reason for the review is to tell prospective buyers, this is a masterpiece waiting to be discovered.Try it, and if you enjoy the film, acquire Voice and Isle...a step up in Asian or maybe anybody's cinema.

A Quirky Story with elements of a Horror movie
This is a quirky little story about a group of girls in an all girl's school. The movie contains elements of horror that appear in the last act but they fail to frighten and really are more of the ghostly bump in the night variety. Less horror than supernatural goings-on that could just as easily have been left out of the story.I went into this movie expecting horror and got a story about close friends and sometime lovers at an all girl's school and what happens both after and before a young girl commits suicide. The story is fairly involving and I had no problem sticking around to the end but I can't recommend it as strongly as the other reviewers. It was okay. Frankly the story could have been told without the strangeness and it would have been more effective. The horror elements were pretty limp and were not central to the story.

Just another dvd to add to my growing collection
I found it interesting and since it seems to fall in with Whispering Corridors and Voices, I really enjoy the storyline. Regular American movies have become boring and I switched to Asian horror because of the element of surprise and how they view spirits. Plus, I sometimes watch it without the subtitles to see if I can follow along and majority of the time, I do.

Very Beautiful and Well acted
Well, I was not disappointed with Memento Mori, and found that the director too a very old type of ghost story, and turned it into something beautiful and haunting. The only thing that holds the movie back from being amazing is the sloppy pacing, and some weird plot device that never really pan out to anything. Other than that a highly recomended film.

My least favorite of the 5 Whispering Corridors Films
I purchased all 5 of the Whispering Corridors films.1. Whispering Corridors2. Memento Mori3. Wishing Stairs4. Voice5. A Blood PledgeMemento Mori was my least favorite of the 5, with the other four films easily being 4-5 star films.Memento Mori was confusing and I had a hard time keeping the actresses apart. I will probably watch it again in a few months & I'm sure that it'll be less confusing the second time around.Teenagers annoyed me even when I was a teenager...with all their petty dramas & stupid decisions. And although all 5 films are about teens, Memento Mori came across as the most immature of all the films. Which is really ironic because some very adult themes are in the film.If you plan to buy all 5 of the films, I think it's worth it to buy this one as well, but if you're just looking for a good movie to watch, I'd recommend any of the other 4 films over this one.

Giving up with Amazon DVDs and audiobooks!
First I asked son to buy me Val McD's Northanger Abbey which turned out to be in German, so I asked forMemento Mori DVD which I remember from school - it's apparently in Korean! It's too much trouble to return them (I'm disabled) so am confining myself to local retailers where I can examine the products before buying.

Masterpiece
This is not a typical horror movie, but a sensible and often poetic work about love, death, rejection and friendship. Beautifully filmed, it's much brighter than the other films from the series, and the music is excellent too. The young actresses are amazing. Great film, not to be missed.
