PumpSpy Freeze Drain

Purchased one of these when installing the underground discharge line for my sump pump last fall. It installed like any other Schedule 40 PVC fitting. I glued the 1.5" line to it's inlet but left the 4" bottom fitting loose in the underground line. By incorporating a PVC union in the 1.5" line above this fitting and leaving the bottom loose, it allows me to remove this short section of pipe in the event the underground line ever needs cleaning out.Last winter was fairly serve in my area and as far as I can tell, the fitting was never used, but it does offer a great peace of mind if my underground line does ever freeze.

My sump pump is in the front of my basement and drains to the back of my lot. I originally had a very long 1 1/2 inch diameter drain line that was about 60 ft long. Whenever the pump cycled I heard a gurgling noise for almost a full minute as the line emptied, and I was afraid the line would someday freeze or otherwise get blocked resulting in a flooded basement. I installed this freeze drain as a transition from the original line to a 4 inch line. Now if the pipe gets blocked the water will merely dump outside my house.It was delivered in two days. It is well made and was very easy to install. I would highly recommend using one of these if you have a sump drain that lies on or runs under the ground.

Fort years I had problems with sump drain freezing causing the sump pump to run. I routed the sump out of the house using this freeze drain adapter just outside the wall. It connects to 4" plastic drain pipe. The 4" pipe is at an angle so it drains quickly. My freezing sump drain problem is solved. Went through the winter of 2019 with no problems. The roofers broke my sump drain adapter in August. It still works but I ordered two more to keep as spares just in case. I highly recommend this product.

Very easy to install. I re-did what the installer used for the sump pump/patio. They had the corrugated tubing all the way up to the elbow with a black reducer that looks so bad. Seems to be a quality item! Shipping was super fast from the manufacture. This was a project I've been putting off only because I wasn't sure how to remove the PVC from the glued portion of the elbow. After searching online I found that the easiest way was to use a heat gun. I simply cut the pipe right below the elbow then used a heat gun to soften up the inner piece... then took a screw driver and pulled the rest of the inner pipe off. Much easier than what I thought because I figured I'd have to cut the elbow off and figure out how to fix it, which wasn't the case!Two things that I I would change is slightly lower the price of the unit by a couple bucks and or not charge for shipping... It would easily be 5 stars but I think the price is a tad high for a piece of pvc/plastic. IE: $22-25 shipped is fair.

The media could not be loaded. It does it job the way is intended. Unfortunately I had to pictures or videos from winter so you will have to take my word for it. Only problem is that it won’t fit Sch40 4” and you need 4” thin wall to 4” Sch40 adapter

Amazing! We have two of these and they have worked wonderfully all winter. We live in Wisconsin and had temps at -51° for 2 days straight and water kept flowing. This solved all of the problems we had with frozen lines last year. I'm so happy I found this product.

Easily attaches to PVC and to 4 inch corrugated piping. Now I do not need to be concerned about backing up of sump pump water due to a frozen drainage system. Less stress!

Worked OK but when gluing PVC pipe to it we used pre cleaner and good quality glue and wouldn't take.We took apart and sanded till was ruff and seams to holding OK,not A super strong joint for sure.

This is a fantastic product. I live in Canada so our winters are pretty brutal to the discharge lines and they freeze. I used to have to worry about ensuring the discharge pipe was not frozen and ran a heated line through it. With this Freeze Drain, I no longer need to do that and save quite a bit of electricity in the process. Thank you Raybend for making such a great product and Amazon for carrying it

hoping this works well, tired of flooded basement due to frozen line

I had two sump pump discharge pipes that I brought together into one downspout into this unit. The underground pipe was buried under a few inches of soil, so will freeze in the winter. I'm expecting this to perform as it should - to release the discharge flow when the underground pie is frozen during the winter. Thus far, before the first winter, it looks like it will work like a charm as it is performing well so far. Was installed in minutes between 1-1/2" ABS black pipe and 3" PVC underground pipe using universal joint cement.
