Being a former pupil of Prof. Bronstein and his daughter Ariana Bronne, I was very happy to hear the news that this book was being republished! I heard the news from Alida (Bronstein''s granddaughter).. Bravo Alida!

This is a treasure for serious students of the violin.
I had the privilege of studying with Professor Bronstein for 5 years. This now hard to find reference was first published in 1977, eleven years after I last studied with him as I was finishing my music degree. All students of his kept notes on his words as well the marked up music as references and learning aids as we worked our way through the literature. Everything I had in my notes and much more is in this book. Reading through any section, I can still hear the Professor's voice reminding me, urging me to connect, to stretch, to SING... He was a masterful teacher. He passed away in 1998 at the age of 93.I am grateful he finally took the time to write and publish this volume, it is a treasure for any violinist. Do not be in a hurry to race through any part of it. It is best enjoyed a paragraph or phrase at a time.

Same as Previous Classic Edition
This review is assure anyone who looked at the previous well-reviewed edition selling for $499 [at this writing] that this is indeed the same book. So yes, you can buy this classic for 1/10th the previous price.

Obviously good
Great book of historic importance. Wish the actual Science of Violin Playing had been a bit longer. Really, it comes down to just a few pages, and then half a douzen scores that have been edited by Bronstein. Good Bowings and fingerings I must say. Good tips and advice... I simply wanted more... much more!!!
