are the rules for this game different than for marbles and jokers?

Hello Christine, the rules are similar with a few twists that allow you to play the game in a more strategic manner, putting more control of your gameplay and the chance to win in your hands, rather than relying on luck. For instance, at any point, you will have the opportunity to choose one of nine cards to play your marbles, giving you more chances to make the right move. If you have any questions about gameplay, feel free to reach out to us.

Are you able to purchase another deck of cards?

I didn't try to - only 5 players so far. :) The 15 to 20 year old "kid" really enjoyed this game at Thanksgiving.
