Political Islam in the Age of Democratization (Middle East Today)

Well researched and interesting look at the evolution of Islam since the 1990's. In particular, I found the information regrading Islam's role in Middle Eastern politics, especially since the rise of the Arab Spring, particularly insightful.

This books talks coherently and cogently about what democracy means not just in Islamic texts but in the current and very different realities of specific Islamic states. Its a must read for those who care about democracy and democratization.

Kamran Bokhari is a well known Islamist who was a self proclaimed spokesperson of Al Mohajiroon in USA in the 1990s while at college in Springfield, Missouri, Southwest Missouri State. Over there he was getting fatwas against fellow students from Omar bakri Mohammad. I was a victim of one of those fatwas . All this was happening in the US of the 1990s under the watchful eye of the FBI that raided the mosque Kamran weaseled his way into. Given his long employment at Stratfor and the U.S. Institute of Peace it is possible that he has links to U.S. intelligence that is often very close to Islamists for whatever purpose.
