I got a bunch of these as cheap Faraday cages for my electronic devices. I had watched some videos on RF radiation and ended up buying an RF meter and experimenting with different devices, and I found that these waste baskets reduce RF radiation by about 90-95%. These are basically exactly the same design as Faraday cages that you might find for sale, but since they are advertised as waste baskets, they are MUCH cheaper! My wife and I now have one next to our bed where we stick our phones at night while we sleep. This way we can still reach in and grab our phone at night if we need to answer a call, send a text, etc., but we are not bombarding our brains with radiation all night. I also have one on my desk where I keep all of my phones, tablets, etc. while I'm not using them. I also gave one to my parents to use. Also, these can effectively shield electronic devices from getting fried in the event of an EMP event. If electronic devices all over the world were suddenly all fried one day, it could be really useful to still have some working electronic devices on hand. I've never used these for storing garbage in, so I can't really comment on that, but I strongly recommend using them to protect yourself and your devices from various forms of radiation!
