What a piece of kit!
I have held off with this review for 2 months from purchase date. A recent visit to my dentist last week has now prompted this review.I have been using a Phillips Sonicare for a few years, each time I visited my dentist/hygienist they always seemed sceptical about it, saying things like "are you sure its a legitimate Sonicare" or " you do change the heads regularly don't you?"On speaking to a friend they recommended the Oral-B I09. First few weeks I had it on the whitening programme, and I am not going to lie I was like this thing is rough! Its proper making my teeth and gums ache.I persevered and wow! Soon as my mouth got used to it, my oral health massively improved. My teeth are loads whiter, I then went through the other programme routines systematically. I have used Plaque fighter and gum care. The app is great I hit 100% coverage after about a week of using it, and have done 100% every morning and evening without fail. The tracking is amazing, it gives you trends and all sorts. I have also linked it to my apple health app on the phone and that adds to your overall health score and tracking. The head seems fine, its due to be replaced in a month, which I will do, but I think it could last longer if needed. Yes the heads are expensive, its a expensive product, I see no point in buying the toothbrush to then use 3rd party heads which won't interact etc with the features in the app.Speaking of costs, I got this for £199 in a deal, anyone seriously considering paying £399 needs to evaluate their thinking and wait for the next deal on amazon. On writing this review today, this model is currently £230. I would still probably pay that in fairness.Anyway! going back to my point at the start of this review, I visited my dentist and hygienist recently, both commented on the vast improvement of my chompers! The dentist said my enamel looks great, really strong and healthy and that my gums now have the text book off pink colour she wants to see! She said the more pale and weak the pink colour of the gums the better and mine is exactly what it should be, now 3 months ago my gums used to be bright red and bleed a lot.The hygienist also commented on both and the overall health of my mouth. So much so that she says she only needs to see me yearly now not 6 monthly. So its actually saved me some money.Battery longevity I cannot comment on only owning the item for a few months, in terms of battery life I can say it just lasted me 10 days in Spain with no issue, on the last day it dropped just into 20% power and warned me that at 10% it reduces power to protect battery. So I would say on a 14 day holiday you would need to take the charger cable with you. The case is very nice and solid, a distinct improvement to the Sonicare. All in all, yes its expensive, you only have one set of teeth though so protect them, I am so glad I found this product now, I think a few more years of substandard care I may have had problems! Go and get one you wont be disappointed!

Very good toothbrush worth purchasing when on offer.
The star rating is probably more 4.7 than 5 but definitely worth purchasing in my view. The battery life is very good. I only charge it every two weeks or so. It connects well to the application on the phone. It works out where you are brushing in your mouth (you don't actually need to brush as the head does the work - so you only need gentle movements), whether you are over or under pressing (as does a light on the toothbrush itself). The only issue is that sometimes it does not register certain aspects of your mouth being brushed (you'll see this from other reviews too). I am not sure if this is to do with how well the wifi is working at the time. That's the only thing it loses marks for. Otherwise, it's a great design, has a travel adapter, nice case, and is hard wearing and fairly light. You will get a bit of toothpaste splatter as it is powerful but, in my view, that is not a negative as it is just part of the process of having a decent toothbrush / brushing experience.

Oral-B iO9 - premium product failed after 11 months
I have now purchased 4 Oral-B iO9 toothbrushes in past years, and every unit has failed after approx. 1 year - so that is 100% failure rate. I used to be No.1 Fan of Oral-B, have purchased my first toothbrush in 1993, and upgraded every time new model was launched. Fantastic product, fantastic cleaning experience and fee, and never ever had any product issues... until latest Oral-B iO model which has been an absolute disaster for reliability. And Oral-B seem to be keeping quiet about the whole thing - real lack of transparency and honesty from this company - I will switching to another company for my next toothbrush - after 30 years of loving Oral-B, I have now totally lost faith in the product and the company.

I’m a convert
I’m a former dentist who for years has maintained that ‘electric’ brushes are unnecessary. However I’m now simply a dental patient and my hygienist suggested this brush despite knowing my preference for a good manual brush. I’m now in the position of taking advice so I bought this brush and I have to admit that I like it very much.
