How do you turn it on?

You can always write on it. There is a little switch on the bottom, turn that on then press the button to clear the screen. You can turn the switch off and it is a "safety" so you don't clear the screen by accident.

Does this light up? I mean, does the writing glow / is the writing illuminated? Thanks

This LCD writing tablet doesn't illuminate, it doesn't include any light inside. And because this style is thin handwriting, some guests may think it is dark. You can look at their photos or order one. If you find it can't meet your need, you can return it. Thanks

Is this thing waterproof? If so, how deep? Could i use it for diving??

No. It's not waterproof. Doesn't even work well. Cheaply made.

No, not that I'm aware of. You can lock it to prevent your note from being erased, any additional marks made with the stylus or anything else it comes in contact with will also stay, but it doesn't come with any app, code or anything like that to save notes made on the surface in an alternate place. I wouldn't use it to take notes for a class, or anything like that, but grocery and to do lists it's great for.
