Great product for the price!
I wanted to move my orchids out of their pots and strap them to my tree. So far it's working out wonderfully. I highly recommend the product. I have six orchids and I had plenty Moss for all of them . Great value for the price.

Will buy more
Great value and really works with soil or coco for retaining water when growing plants. It’s good quality moss. Good size package and weight for price. Water absorption is 10/10 while being easy to mix.

Good enough is ok for my applications
For the amount you ge is a great deal. Fantastic for filling moss poles and the like without breaking the bank. However, that said it is not super high quality. Mine came with a fair amount of debris (random lil plants started popping up in my moss poles from the moss I got in May of 2025) and it had a noticeably different smell when it was rehydrating than other moss. It was also much more "broken" than other moss I have used but, for the price this is not entirely unexpected. Would I buy again, yes. Is it super high quality, no. But, if you don't need the best of the best, good enough is probably fine. As always, YMMV

PROPAGATION SUCCESS!
I grow a lot of plants...it has taken over my house and large backyard greenhouse. I am always looking for cheaper and/or better alternatives for my supplies. I found an extremely low priced moss on another website and decided to give it a try. I should NOT have done that! Upon rehydration, the moss had a horrible "swampy" smell. I didn't have any alternative so I went ahead and used it for a decent amount of houseplant propagations. Nothing rooted and the only thing I grew was mold. Not only was it a huge waste of time and space, I ended up throwing out many expensive cuttings. Needless to say, I was very critical of my next moss purchase. Upon receiving this moss, I immediately opened and smelled it. Not only did it not smell like a swamp, it smelled GOOD! It smelled like raw life...hard to explain. If you truly love plants, you'll understand what I mean. 🫠 I had excellent propagation success with this moss. Most cuttings rooted within a few days. I was also able to reuse the moss with other cuttings. In fact, I ended up only using about half of the package because there was no waste. This moss is at a lower price than anything I've found at local nurseries. Although it cost more up front than the horrible swamp moss, in the long run it cost less because I had success using it for my propagations. Zero complaints on the quality, quantity, and value. I won't experiment with my moss in the future. 🙂

More Compressed than I thought.
Purchased the 3.3 lb block. As far as sphagnum goes, I've purchased a brand that came in a 1.2 lb block. One that came in a 2.2 lb block, same brand as this, as well as this; 3.3 lb block. The original block, different brand, was excellent. Long fibers, low bits and pieces good color and fluffy. Of this brand the 2.2 lb bale came in a 15-in (ish) by 15 in (ish) by 6-8" block. This bale, containing 10 or so more quarts and another lb of sphagnum is actually compressed to less than half of the size of that. The block itself was probably 8x8x10 or something, going off memory. The benefit to the 2.2 lb block, it wasn't overly compressed so it was easy to pull moss off in sheets About a quarter of that block would do three to four of the moss poles I do. When naturally decompressed, it would fluff easily and remain in Long fibers. It DID have quite a lot of the smaller bits, many more than previous. I just use those in my mixes that need high water retention. It had a good smell but did have several sticks and pieces of plastic twine. I would recommend it. At time of writing originally, I had not broken into this one yet, but since editing, but it appears VERY compressed. It's not necessarily true the first block I bought was fairly compressed as well, not as compressed as this but it was more compressed in the previous block, and that block actually had less of the little bits and the broken strands then the block of this brand, That was less compacted. All in all, the fibers were all average at least three plus inches, so I think it worked out. It does compress a bit more than the previous batch. I don't like to use the little bits as they will come out through the holes in the moss pole, so I tend to kind of wad them in with the longer strands and stuff then in the middle, or again, use in soil. I've actually used all the block now, and am getting more. When allowed to expand, there is physically more sphagnum there, but it's not as fluffy, and it has more fines and broken stuff. I'm torn. I don't know if the increase makes up for it, and since the stuff is a bit finer., It'll compact a bit more, and is easier to over pack the poles, but not a lot, so in the end you really still only get a bit more. I have started adding bark to my moss poles to add something hard for roots to wrap into and onto, that takes up space and helps airate. Now I see they have a 4.4 lb block. I'm worried it's just as compressed. When you over compress this stuff you lose volume. It gets smaller and packs more.

Very much alive
This moss is not inert! Meaning it grows mold very easily, if wet. It also has an odor that only goes partially away after you washing it several times. Great value for the volume. Pretty much the same amount of sticks and debris as in any competitor.

nice compressed sheet with long fibers
I use this not only as a dry light substate for orchids and such, but I have also used it in my indoor pond for a few plants. the only bad thing i have to say is that in the pots that stay consistently moist there has been a few different "weeds" pop up in the moss. not a big deal they pullout easily. the moss expands well with water with nice long fibers Wraps and holds well on polls. My tropicals that like a "Chunky" mix also do well with this mixed in.

Excellent Quality Sphagnum Moss
This is one of the top-quality sphagnum mosses I’ve used. It comes compressed and packaged very well with no unpleasant smell. I remove the layers as I go depending on how much I need, and a little goes a long way. Even a thin layer expands to a generous amount once soaked in water. I use this moss as part of the filtration system in my semi-hydro setups, and it works very well. I also use it to fill moss poles to help my tropical plants climb and develop aerial roots. Since using moss poles, I’ve noticed that my plants are producing noticeably larger leaves. Great quality, versatile, and long-lasting. I will definitely purchase again!

Great size and packaged well.
Better than expected. Compact but expands once soaked overnight. No odor so a bonus You only need to use a small amount and the rest you can reseal into package
