Bought these for making various flash stands out of pvc pipe.Seem pretty solid.The thumb screw works well and the threads are well cut where it screws onto the 1/4 inch screw.

I put them up on a tripod, put a flash on them, and they stayed put. It was amazing.

Very handy. Now I can mount more than one flash on existing tripods

I've bought several brands of cold shoe adapters, and these are the best I've found, for two main reasons:1. Most of the cold shoe adapters like this one have knobs that are so small and so close to the body that they are difficult to grasp. This makes it hard to be certain that the jaws have tightened properly after inserting a flash, and hard to loosen when you need to remove a flash. So I was glad to find these, where the knob is on a shaft that positions the knob far enough away from the body to grasp easily. This makes it much easier to open the jaws to remove a flash, or to tighten the jaws after inserting a flash.2. When you unscrew the knob to open the jaws of a cold shoe adapter, springs push the jaws open. To fully release the speedlight (or whatever else you've mounted) you have to open the jaws wider than the shoe. For many of the cold shoe adapters I've tried, the screws are too short: so you must only open the jaws barely enough to release the speedlight, otherwise the moving part of the jaw will fall off, and the springs will pop out and get lost. Unlike most cold shoe adapters I've tried, these have long screws, which lets you open the jaws wide with no fear of it coming apart and the springs getting loose. So far these are working well for me.

I use these on top of my manfrotto umbrella swivels. I used to use a different brand but I was replacing them all of the time. I've had these for a considerable period of time on many jobs and I have no complaints.

Just what you need, nothing more. They work.
