Can this light be mounted to point straight out? The pictures show it mounted as less than 90 deg. I will mount under a bumper.

I have 5 of these mounted across the bottom edge of my Peterbilt road tractor. They are all mounted to where they're level to the ground...straight out.

Will these fit on my roof rack on my 2011 chevy avalanche?

They will you have to either make your own bracket or just drill holes through your rack, and bolt them up, and take a look at the options from this company there versions that have a mounting bracket on them, I just ordered a set like that, and these lights are good and bright

Can these be mounted on a vertical surface with light facing forward. Hole/bolt at the rear?

I had to flatten out the curved bracket. Now points up, and can be adjusted to point straight out. When the mounting is on the bottom.

Can there possibly be bolted from he side in any way ?

You might be able to make or get a bracket that would allow you to bolt it from the side
