When charging a phonr about 5 hours

I live in Chicago, can I leave this machine in my vehicle at all times or keep in the house until' needed?

I would not leave it in the car especially during weather extremes (very hot to very cold) in Chicago. You can leave it in the car but the machine will break much sooner. I have several Halo Bolts with the air compressor; I bought the Halo Bolts because of the air compressor. Used to love them. Never believed some customers saying it stops working within a year or two. But it's true. I leave my Halo Bolt jump starter inside the house and even then, when using in Chicago weather after about a year or two, they stop working, no matter what. I used it a few times to jump start and it worked; the more you use the jump starter/air compressor, the more this machine runs down. I do love jump starters but honestly expect it to not work after 2 years.

How does hold a charge?

I've found it holds a pretty good charge. I've taken it to work with me to use as a backup charger, and have still had a great amount of charge left on it.
