NedFoss Swan Pocket Knife for Men, 3.6" D2 Blade Large Folding Knife, Black

Bought this for $35 in June, 2023. This knife turned out to be the first addition to what has become a collection of “inexpensive” knives. After adding several more to my collection and reviewing them here on Amazon, I realized I had never reviewed this NedFoss knife. I have always carried a little “Old Timer” type pocket knife for cutting/opening things. But, I decided I wanted something larger while walking my dog at night. (You never know.) Anyway, I started watching various people's reviews of Every Day Carry (EDC) knives on YouTube to learn the jargon, understand the different designs and how knives work, how to repair them, and understand what to look for in a good knife. This particular knife struck my fancy, so I bought it. It was so much larger than my little “Old Timer”. I couldn't believe how nice it was. It has an attractive design, and the fit and finish is really good. The blade opens and closes very smoothly. The blade locks up strongly when opened with no wiggle at all. The blade detent is good, and it is properly centered in the handle when closed. It is reasonably sharp. This is a heavy bladed knife, so you have to be firm in your “flipper” action to open it. Maybe include a little wrist action as well. (This knife is NOT spring assisted as some people have indicated.) I can't believe how nice this knife is for the money. Someday I may buy a more expensive knife just to see how it compares to this “inexpensive” one. It may cost three to ten times more, but I can't see how it will be that much better in quality. To me, this knife is a little big and heavy for every day carry, but it looks and feels great. I don't see this as a real work knife... more of a gentleman's knife. I have found several $10-$20 knives that are better suited to be treated as a work knife. This one is too nice for harsh treatment. It is just as good as any of the newer purchases in my collection, and better than some of the more popular name brands. I know “quality control” may miss some issues with a knife, but I have been fortunate thus far. In building my collection, I have only had to return one knife to Amazon due to a quality issue, but its replacement was good. This NedFoss had no issues, and it was a keeper.

Greate knife. Good balance between blade length and folded size. Very comfortable grip. Smooth pivot. As sharp from the box as you wish it to be. When folded, every edge is beveled - will not tear your pocket. A warning - D2 is a carbon steel - it will rust - take care.

Very nice knife, I’d say it feels a little blade end heavy compared to my old buck, but I could buy 4 of these for the price of that one. Stays sharp within reasonable use, looks great. I looked over all the Ned knives before choosing this one. A lighter blade than some, but still a ridged drop point, slightly thicker handle than the swan with the contours for grip. Also, the open tab functions well as a finger guard once open and gives a bit more control with fine work.

Good blade. Smooth operation. Substandard fit and finish. Good value for the price.

As a man who carries a firearm and EDC knife I personally chose EITHER my NEDFOSS Beast or It’s little brother the NEDFOSS SWAN they are perfect EDC’s. Now, don't get me wrong, I have other knives. I've purchased another knife off of Amazon as well. One is crap, it's totally trash. That's the Lothar. It's not a Ned Foss Lothar. You will see it in the pictures and video below. It's a piece of crap. I've warned people before, "Do not buy this piece of crap knife that I purchased off Amazon." It's not Amazon's fault, it's the manufacturer's fault. It's not a Ned Foss knife. I don't know what the hell it is, but it's a piece of crap. It has a pinch point on it when you open it, it doesn't open correctly. It's flimsy. It's a cheap knife. It's not worth the money that you pay for it on Amazon or anywhere in this world. The Ned Foss knives are excellent, well-made tools. I consider them tools. You'll see why in the video. I'm going to include the picture of the piece of crap that I purchased, and you'll see that I try to make it a fixed blade. Because it's worthless as a pocket knife, a folding knife. Anyway, Ned Foss The Beast and Ned Foss Swan are excellent purchases. I would recommend these knives for EDC to anybody. Now, I do carry a firearm, as a back-up to my firearm I carry a EDC NEDFOSS pocket knife as well. Have a good day.

Great every day carry knife! I’ve carried this knife because it has never failed me. It’s unbelievable how it holds its edge. I used it last year when I first got it to debark a 1-inch hickory sapling tree to make a cane that I also carry every day. And I swear that I’ve never sharpened it because it was as sharp as the day I got it new. And it’s a great flipper too, plus it has a spring clip to carry it in your front pocket. The price was really low at about $35 U.S. from Amazon. If you’re looking for a great EDC knife, you’ll be amazed as I was.

I purchased this for EDC around the farm. I wanted something that easily fit into a pocket of my overalls and is easy to find in the pocket with light gloves on. I also wanted something that could be opened quickly and would hold an edge for a reasonable amoung of time. I also needed womething that could stand up to some fairly harch conditions. The knife does not hold it's edge very well with moderate use and the blade is beginning to pit and rust after less than 1 year of every day use. Additionally, the backstrap of the knife is open and catches a huge amout of pocket line and other debris. Opening the knife one-handed is a breeze but be careful of the screwss working loose. The knife is of a good weight to carry in a opoicket and has a comfortable grip. The pocket clip is extremely stiff making it a bit difficult to put back into a pocket after use. Not easy to use with gloves on. It shoud stay put through about anything though. Overall, I am satisifed with the knife. Just not overly excited.
