The thing emits a load buzzing noise when the tines get bound up, but they are easy to turn backwards to release the debris. I was able to clean out the big rocks and roots, till in some compost and clay softener and get everything planted. Very happy with this purchase, will use it to turn up dead spots in the yard and plant grass this fall. I bought it to till my yard in preparation for planting some trees and shrubs. It's not quite powerful enough to do what I anticipated to use it for.
