The transfer speeds are acceptable, they are not the best but they are what you would expect from a device of this size and type. It never gets too hot, it can get a little warm but that is normal. It works perfect on Linux and Windows. I use it to transfer files between computers and OS'es, and it works great with both, it is universally compatible. It stays securely in the port when plugged in, and is easy to remove too. This has so far stood up to regular use and has proven to be reliable after over 6 months of daily use. I highly recommend this, it's good quality and while it is a little pricey, it's worth every penny. You are getting what you pay for.
